Of course, Dylan Strome, too.

All 4 of those guys (with Wheeler, Ladd) were traded at age 22 and with a lot fewer NHL gp than Sam, which is a pretty meaningful difference.

I wonder if there is a 24 yo and/or 400gp player who has changed so dramatically?
In terms of age, St. Louis was 25.

Ray Whitney was 25 with over 200 games when the Oilers put him on waivers. He instantly became a 30+ goal scorer for the Panthers after never having gotten even 20.

Steve Sullivan was put on waivers by Toronto at age 25 and was mostly a 25 point a season forward with one outlier of 40 points with 200+ career games. He instantly became a 60-70 point forward in Chicago for years and years.

Also, they didn't change teams but the Sedins were at 300+ games and age 25 when after the 05-06 lockout they came back as 70, 80, 90, 100+ point players while before they were 30-40 point players.

The Sedins usage changed dramatically at that time. Became 1st line players with premium pp time. Although they certainly started deserving that change.

I agree. It was almost like they changed teams. There was an entire season in between during the lockout where they showed some offensive flair on a stacked Modo team with Forsberg, Naslund, etc. and the Canucks changed their usage of them quite a bit starting in 05-06.

He also had 8 shots on net and 6 hits.

Yeah, but he’s not good enough to play centre on this garbo team.

Wow beauty play by Bennett in 3 on 3. That didn’t look overly lucky from here.

Quenneville referred to his acquisition as a “home run”.

Thought there was a quote somewhere where Bennett said he is having the most fun of his career. I wonder why? Did we ever give him opportunities like that on the Flames!

Happy for Bennett, and so mad at the Flames for how badly they managed him.

NHL on MSNBC panel is talking about how Sam lost confidence and how coach Q gave it back to him.

Ugh..the Flames really ####ed this thing up, didn't they....goddamit.

Damn, young 18, I mean 24 year old Sam Bennet with the overtime winner.

Was a beauty.

Sometimes guys just need a fresh start. It’s happened many times before, and will happen many times again.

Yep.

3 garbage head coaching hires in a row, forcing a player to request a trade to get an actual opportunity.

This is going to get even worse as things go forward.

Nope. This is making excuses. This whole situation was born out of incompetence on the Flames behalf. You pay a price for hiring three garbage coaches in a row.
