Incorrect. The Eastman episode stands as a shining achievement of a series that otherwise would be about gore and violence exclusively. While they touch on the themes of the Eastman episode at times throughout the series, that episode does a full exploration of what makes us human, the choices of morality, and good vs. evil vs. both existing simultaneously in a person...all in one episode of awesomeness. Without that episode, I consider this series an also-ran.

Ok, just read the rest of the thread and I'm just going to stay out of this thread from now on. Criticism about character motivations and what a character would likely do in a situation...fair game. Nitpicking about how not enough people were shredded by gunfire in an episode where a bunch of people die...pointless criticism.
This show has always been, and still is about the characters and the larger themes. Stop sweating the small stuff. There was lots of interesting stuff in this episode.
BTW, Morgan's storyline completely fascinates me at the moment. The line "I don't die" is incredible on so many levels. Honestly, can we not discuss the really good stuff and forget about the things that don't resemble reality perfectly?

I think people are just having fun with aspects from this episode. The over-the-top, "I am never watching this show anymore!" has ceased.
The Eastman episode was strong for showing Morgan's transition to pacifism, but there wasn't much for going back in the other direction. The catalyst for it was weak. They could have had another episode with him and Rick exploring this and challenging their ideals, but it was skipped here. Morgan just went Dr. Jeckyll/Mr. Hyde here.

He is past his best before date. The beginning where they are like "you don't need help?" and then he proceeds to go and shake on a fence to attract the walkers? hahahaha Even Judith could have done that.
and how did he not die after that insanely stupid office door rush. Lets all stand straight up in the middle of the door so they can hit us better.
Also at the end where he is walking through 15 saviors giving every one a head shot was laughably bad.
Morgan. It's time to meet Lucille.

And I have pretty much zero recollection of who Morales was. I have to think that only the most hardcore fan would have had an inkling of an idea of his prior existence.
|
No one had any recollection of Morales. I kinda think only the writers knew who he was given that Rick's line was literally "You are Morales. You were in Atlanta." lol

None of what Morgan has ever done makes sense. In the space of a few months becoming the stick guru, who can disarm people with assault rifles?
Quite frankly none of the fighting makes sense, particularly the stuff with zombies. You really can't look at this show realistically like that.

He was in season one. When they left the quarry to go to Atlanta Morales took his family and went another direction. Rick doesn't know him well, but recognized him...from Atlanta.
I guess I don't see how that is implausable or poor writing.

We checked out halfway through season 7. Popped in here to see if the new season was worth catching up to... apparently still bad, maybe worse?

I know who he was but I don't see why they would include him in Negans group. I re-watched that scene and he was heading to Alabama with his Family.

Surreal. This has to be the only show in history where people who aren't even watching it feel it necessary to show up and complain. Why would this even enter your mind?

I really liked the show up until season 7. If people here were saying "Wow, season 8 is fantastic so far!" we would probably put the time in to suffer through the rest of it and then watch season 8. But since everyone is saying it's still bad we won't.
Didn't think that was that weird...

Yeah I wasn't really commenting on the writing itself, as I enjoyed the episode and the series in general. I just found it funny that they used that line to clarify who he was. No beating around the bush there heh.

PVR it. Just fast forward any scene without Negan.

Worse. I haven't even commented about the last episode because I don't take time to describe my defecations and since the quality of this show is in the same ballpark it seems like a waste of time and since some viewers seem overly sensitive about the criticism I will refrain. Nobody can deny that the traffic in this thread has slowed down because fewer people are watching or feel compelled to discuss the show.

I had a WTF moment when they shot those 2 guards in front of the glass doors. Blood spatters on the window, so, uh, exit wound.. But I guess the bullet just failed to penetrate the glass?

Did anyone comment about how fast that woman made those two perfect head shots back to back with a bow? That's literally impossible.

I think if you have to put that much focus into how realistic the show is, then you won't enjoy it.
Funny thing- everybody complained about how slow the last season was; not enough action. This has action all over the place, and here we are talking about exit wounds and head shots.
Watch the show as if you are reading a comic, and it will be that much more enjoyable.

Yup, I was thinking maybe she had 2 arrows in one shot, which they should have shown her lining up, that would have been cool. Instead, it was, WTF?
And I do watch and enjoy the show, I don't mean to make it sound like nitpicking. I find it amusing. I know the details all add up to extra costs, so it is funny to see what they choose to save on.
What was the deal with that walker that had stuff all over him, and they said "no time to figure that out now" or something. Is that a plot point we need to remember, because I couldn't figure out what the deal was with him.

This is pretty much standard fare for Hollywood, not sure how a common technique is a slight against the show.

So does Rick kill Morales? It'll be an interesting situation to see unfold on Sunday.
