Who said anything about self-diagnosis? There's nothing in those questions that would make me assume Statscan is looking for anything other than a proper diagnosis from a qualified medical professional.

Sounds like Kent Hehr is indeed in the cabinet. Seemed like a no brainer and glad to see it's going to happen.

Great for Calgary and for Hehr. What a journey it's been for him.
Guessing he's President of the Treasury Board.

Rumour is Veteran Affairs for Kent. Very sensitive portfolio right now.
Rumour also is Sohi from Edmonton in Infrastructure. If Calgary doesn't get its green line lrt money we're taking McDavid hostage.

Sohi as well. 50% of the Alberta Liberal caucus is in Cabinet.

We need to dump the queen as our head of state.
Swearing allegiance to some entitled foreign family rather than to the people of Canada just seems wrong.

I think it's ok...
Being a republic would change a few things.
For one you'd have a President and Prime Minister. And with party politics it could get quite messy.

Not necessarily.
A lot of countries (Italy, Austria, Israel) have a ceremonial President similar to our current Governor General.

MND is Harjit Sajjan. Interesting. He had a distinguished military career and retired as a Major I think. Thus, he wouldn't have been part of The Establishment (like Leslie). It would not have been a happy day in the ranks had Leslie been appointed MND.

Nice to see Stephane Dion get the Minister of Foreign Affairs position. The guy is a good politician and stuck it through.
Trudeau's leadership rival, Marc Garneau also became the Minister of Transportation.
Harjit Singh Sajjan was also a no-brainer for Minister of Defense. He was a commanding officer in the Canadian Military (first Sikh to have that title in Canadian history in fact). I believe he had another career as a police officer as well.
Hunter Tootoo also became the Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard.

National defense is a relatively big surprise to me, not saying its a bad choice. I thought it would go to Leslie until he opened his mouth and almost blew the election for the Libs in the early day with the whole Kurds are the biggest threat statement.
I'm betting he's pretty unhappy right now.
I'm surprised with Garneau at transportation as well.

Garneau was very strategic IMO.
Part of his job will be liaising with people in Lac Megantic due to the ongoing issues related to the disaster there. Lisa Raitt did a respectable job there on behalf of the Conservatives, enough to sway voters there towards the CPC. All that despite not even being bilingual. The Liberals probably see adding a prominent Quebecor and Francophone in that role as a way to build some inroads in that part of Quebec.

Good to see Sohi get infrastructure. That's interesting given the Trudeau promises of investment. Likely means we get a decent portion of that.

Good to see Hehr is in the cabinet, Calgary always got stiffed when Chretien was in power. Certainly the gamble of voting for him has payed off for Calgary.
The Edmonton MP is a mixed blessing, that position looks like they will make decisions on where the infrastructure funding goes, hopefully not a continuation of the Anne Maclellen dynasty where Edmonton got all the goodies.

I thought Leslie was certain based on his connections. He would have been a poor choice, though. It is often not the best decision to pick a MND who was a recent inmate of the asylum. At least with Sajjan he was far removed from Fort Fumble on the Rideau and I look forward to see what he can do.
My colleagues in BC have tremendous respect for him so I think the troops will support him.

I had Sajjan pegged for public safety, figured his CV was ideal. Tootoo at Fisheries surprised me since it usually goes to an Atlantic member (and infrequently BC) It's been 31 years since a member from neither of those regions held that portfolio.
