Didn't see this posted yet but it appears Adidas is only allowing each team to have 2 jerseys next season once they take over meaning NO 3RD/ALTERNATE JERSEY. So hopefully Ken King reads this and just ditches the current threads in favor of the retros for both home and away.

Uniform mandate

Multiple sources tell the Star Tribune that all NHL teams will be permitted to have only home and road jerseys next season as Adidas takes over for Reebok as the official outfitter of NHL uniforms.

There will be no third jerseys, in order to make the initial implementation of new sweaters easier.

A retro theme.

Maintains a tiny bit of black.

Paired with red gloves and pants.

I think we've got ourselves a winner!

I see this happening with the pants, helmet and gloves being black.

The black flaming C looks so much better than the white. Other than that, great uni's.

Boy those are actually pretty nice. As much as people around here seem to like the retro unis of the 80's, some of us like the black touches. Also - and more importantly - the ownership/management of the Flames seem to like the black. So I think an idea like this is a really good compromise. I like the idea of stripeless black pants, and black helmet / gloves. But I really like what's been done here.

Black as an accent certainly has its place.

I'm guessing the NHL 100 year logo being located on the sleeves awkwardly this season, will tie nicely into 3 vertical stripes on the jersey redesign next season.

I'd like to see the shoulder patch from the previous 3rds made an everyday shoulder patch

Meh, I would prefer no patch at all. The old 3rd patch is a neat idea, but not necessary. I seems a little forced.

This is the first time I've heard the term 'snot donkey' used for that logo. It'll never be known as anything else going forward. Thank you.

That patch was the only good thing on those 3rds - I like the variations I've seen as well:
