Turn down your backlight brightness a touch. Makes a big difference.
Feels about the same as my old Pearl but if I whip out nhl 2k the battery drains pretty quick

Yeah, it was jacked pretty high, I have it to almost off and it is a lot better.
Not wanting to go through 100 pages of app's to buy, what should I get? What is the must-have of the must-haves?

Yeah iPhone definitely has better battery life than some of the other smartphones out there right now. Learn to manage it properly and you'll be fine.

This thread is a bit long to read in its entirety, so I will just ask the question that has undoubtedly been asked a million times.
Has the reception issue been fixed or is it still a problem? My phone just died today and I am looking at picking up the iPhone 4 (phone that died was a 3g).

The only fix that has happened, and as far as I am aware will happen, is they changed it so the bars are displaying properly now (iOS4.01 I think?), and they give you a free case to help combat the signal attenuation.
I don't own an iPhone though, so maybe I missed another fix they put in.

It was never a problem.
Maybe with AT&T but there are no issues with reception or dropped calls in Canada.

Unless I am mistaken, this thread here http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=95364 is an example of problems stemming from the signal strength problems of an iPhone 4.

Some people have it in some places, I've only been one place where I've been able to reproduce the bars going down, and I've never had a dropped call.

I was in my basement and it dropped a call, but that was before I got my bumper today.

Why would a hardware problem affect only AT&T? Have you even looked at the thread?
Takes me roughly 15 seconds with the phone in my left hand to lose all reception, and thats when calls will die.

Let me rephrase...
In my experience, it hasn't been a problem under normal use. My phone works just fine w/o a case and I have had no issues whatsoever with reception. It makes calls, receives calls, sends text messages, receives them and accesses 3G everywhere I go in the city, surrounding the city, and even on top of mountains. I would be comfortable recommending one to anyone and think there is a reasonable chance you will be satisfied with your purchase should you decide to go that route. Reception is not, and has not been an issue for me.
And if you opt for a Blackberry, that's fine too. It's no skin off my back. Plus it supports a Canadian company.

ATT&T has such poor coverage in most areas that you're practically always close to losing a call anyway, so losing 24 dB of signal is much worse than somewhere that has tons of signal to lose.

But if you throw a bumper on it, you no longer have that issue.

A guy at my work just got his yesterday. He got to Market Mall at around 715 and didn't leave the mall until 2:30. That is insane!
Hopefully with a second Apple store opening up in Calgary I'll finally be able to just walk into either of these stores during normal hours and purchase this stupid thing like a normal human being.

I love my iphone, but unless I'm missing something the image doesn't state iphone wins, but Apple does.
Is iphone the best phone, or is it at the top because it doesn't have any other crappy or cheaper phones on the market that lowers their score like others on this list do?

You're saying the results of the survey are unfairly skewed because Apple doesn't make a low-end crappy phone like everyone else does?
Interesting. I didn't even think of that. Is that really a valid issue though? I mean, this survey is only focused on smartphones, so it's not like Motorola flip phones are dragging their numbers down. That's a completely different survey (LG scored highest amongst those phones).
Edit: I do see the point you're making though. There's one company that focuses solely on the high-tech industry, while the other guys dabble in both high and low-tech. I suppose these numbers can get skewed by that separation, but nobody's really forcing the other companies to make low-tech phones. In their defence, there is probably a lot more money to be made from the low-tech market though, as there is zero Apple presence there to compete against.
