The thing I hate most about the Olympics is the people that couldn't care less about these events when the Olympics aren't on getting all high and mighty when a Canadian athlete isn't perfect in one event.

I think the ladies need an easier course. They are getting owned.

Dutch speedskater goes down pretty hard in her 500 m run. She's OK though.

Wow this looks pretty unprofessional. Hardly any of the women doing their qualifying run actually stay on their feet for the entire run.

Kind of embarassing to watch.

**Wow, watching some american trying to crawl up the hills now.

Maltais is third on the World Cup this season (no wins) while Ricker is first with three wins. Maltais did get the medal in Turin while Ricker was fourth, but I would guess Ricker is the favorite. Of course, this is snowboard cross and as we saw yesterday anything could happen.

It will be better as they can give each other a hand climbing up those hills.

If I was one the runners I would just lay back behind the pack and let them wipe each other out.

Probably not a bad idea based on what we have seen so far. Of course that would assume that the single rider coming up the back can actually stay on their feet for the win.

Nesbitt is 13th after round 1 of the 500 m long track speed skating. Probably little chance of a medal in this event. Nesbitt's stronger event is the 1000 m.

Why didn't they just wait and delay the start? Stupid decisions cost some athletes a chance of a medal.

Thank you for this.

Please exercise some restraint when criticizing these athletes. They are doing fine and we're fairly on course for our expected medal count so far.

Octothorps medal prediction thread is a good read for anyone looking to get some insight on who's who for Canada in each sport.
