There is a massive difference in having a linesman or referee make a judgment call on a goal and the blatant attempts of others to cynically put the ball in the net with a hand and try and fool the match officials. Hurst's second goal being counted was the result of an official's call, not him 'cheating' to score, ie. the Hand of God, diving for a penalty, feigning injury to have your opponent sent off, deliberately causing injury or engaging in unsportsmanlike behaviour.

There are many examples of cheating in football at the international level, however the 3rd goal in the 1966 World Cup final isn't one. It is akin to saying Tampa Bay cheated to win the Cup on 2004, when in reality they had nothing to do with the non-call.

Oh and to the other poster, Pearce's shot was down the middle in '90. Chris Waddle's effort was the one that went high, a la Roberto Baggio.

Epic 'small man' syndrome from the ref. Cant control the game on his own merit so he has to throw cards around.

That game was actually alright, but as soon as the players figured out that all they had to do was pretend to get hit and the ref would not only give them the ball but card the opposition it turned into amateur night.

He was carding people for clean tackles!

Either way, it sucks for Germany, but it isnt the end of the world, a win against Ghana and this means nothing, but it does put the pressure on them.

At the end of the day it was 10 man Germany against 12 man Serbia, they couldnt win, especially not when one of the Serbian players was carrying a whistle.

Still, refereeing problems aside, it is nice to see the Kr*uts lose, even if it is to (yuk) Serbia.

Yeah the Germans got a PK and Podolski shoulda scored it. Kicking it right into the keeper when he was diving to Podolski's right just before he kicked it he should of kicked it left and had an easy goal!!! The reffing was just a bad though too.

Seems this ball is hard to control but the times that someone does strike it well, it's impossible for the keeper to save.

ya thats a little pressure on ze Germans now, as long as Ghana don't beat the Aussies by 4 (I think) as long as the Germans beat them by 1 (and Serbia don't beat the Aussies by 5) than they still get first
