Looking at their first month of the season it has potential to completely break them. If they go on a run and end the month in a good spot they have a chance but if they bury themselves soon Huberdeau won’t be able to save them and they would be in a hole too big.

With assets to move, and a game changing star at the top of the draft it makes so much sense to lean into a poor year. I think there is a lot of potential to turn things around soon but I feel they need to land a stud forward at the top of the draft hopefully a center (but if it’s McKenna then I will take the winger)

Why do you want Conroy to trade Andersson at way below market value and mark himself as the next Chiarelli?

There's a real possibility the time to get any sort of decent asset was the previous two seasons. It's quite possible the teams overall performance and his could tank any value .

Then again it could be a tough opening schedule and things will balance out and they can get a good package. It's far too early to tell.

But, if flames history has a say, they will have held onto a prime asset for too long and we will get the equivalent of a 1st and Hanowski type prospect. Ahhh the O.G 'owski.

Made our brains say 'owski when Iggy was dealt.

I think Andersson should have been traded either at the same time as the rest of the team was being traded out, or during the off-season afterwards. Sweetheart deal for a few more seasons, and recent production. Conroy chose to keep him. Maybe there weren't offers for him that convinced Conroy to part with Andersson, or perhaps because he wasn't officially on the block, teams didn't really put offers in, and just called with general interest (if they called at all).

That's all in the rear-view mirror. I trust Conroy when he said that he will not allow a high-value asset to walk for nothing. It scares me a little that the Flames may find themselves in a playoff spot at the deadline (much less cared after this slow start, but point stands) and Andersson still on the team. I think it was the right call last season to stand pat at the deadline with respect to bringing in bodies to augment the Flames down the stretch. A bigger test will be trading Andersson for futures if the Flames are in a spot at the deadline (or even a point or two out). I think Conroy still pulls the trigger on a trade, and would bet that way if I had to place a bet.

It would be quite the interesting position, wouldn't it?

Panthers season is starting to fall apart. They will win the lottery and get McKenna. Book it.

Would be great if the mods or OP edited the thread title to reflect the current situation

LOL that is the market value for Mr -38c and can't score into open nets.

Any team who signs him for anything more than 3 years is going to have nightmares.
