Haha exactly! On paper Dallas looked good last year on paper they look amazing this year. It means nothing in sports, look at the NBA playoffs this year. Sports is always interesting.

Vegas & LA are both on thr wrong side of their peaks.
Hot Take; Calgary could beat both of them in the Pacific standings next year.
That's not just because they lost to Edmonton or to diminish the truth that Edmonton has a good chance to win; its just the reality of those 2 teams.
Win or lose; Edmonton has 2 difficult opponents to get through still.

Hmmm, seems a little rude to take a shot at dino. Maybe clean that up.
Dallas is definitely a better bet than Vegas, especially after the end of the 1st round where Dallas looked like they could dominate good teams and Vegas just didn’t.
It’s certainly a more reasonable position than the number of Flames fans who have been predicting an Oilers cup since they won their first game against the Kings, to the point where they’ve become bigger boosters of the Oilers than most Oiler fans I know.

we can count cups after the season, I'm gonna go with ZERO. Oilers won 1-0 against Vegas missing their best player who haven't looked great all playoffs, crown them if you like but they haven't played a team like the Avs, Jets, Stars, Panthers, Canes, ect.
|
How long are you gonna bring up the “they haven’t played a team like…” excuse.
They haven’t played the 77 Habs either but as long as they keep playing the teams they did play and make them look pedestrian while doing it, I’m gonna keep saying how good the oilers look.
Kings and Knights weren’t slouches. They were right up there in the standings with the teams you mentioned.
Every round it’s “why did this new team lay down for the oilers”. For two straight playoffs. Have you thought maybe these teams aren’t just surrendering their season and the oilers are making them look that way by outplaying them?
I keep saying it but Knoblauch has been the best change that org ever made. He’s made them play like an elite team in the playoffs. He should be winning his second consecutive jack adams.

Meh, another team going controller disconnect and laying down for the Coilers. I don't understand how they can do it year after year.
I don't think that there's some grand conspiracy to make sure the Coilers win the Cup, but the NHL sure does seem to have it's thumb on the scale with their orange/blue-blind refs.

Yeah boys I think it's happening. All we can do is hope for an implosion against the Stars but I just don't see it.

Well I don't think there will be an implosion per se, but I can see the Stars edging them out in a long, hard-fought series.
These were all very close games and Vegas had no hot shooters. Dallas has a couple of those and a rock solid defense with Heiskanen back.

Your words are true but they disgust me.

You might also want to remember that last playoff run the Oilers had a 24% PP and 94% PK. This year they are running at 25/66.7 with 0 short handed goals. The numbers will only get worse for them as they continue to look lost with either the extra skater or short

They haven't beaten a tough opponent yet (LA morphed into sieves after starting like one)
So not sure it's can be said that they're proven this year, yet.
Unfortunately another almost free pass to round 3. Too much credit is being shelled out in here given the difficulty level of the Pacific bracket.

Dino7C going on his posting spree about how great Dallas is just like last year is grim indeed.
They look as pedestrian as they did last year.

Then why are they beating the likes of the avs and Jets?
Pedestrian teams don't get past teams like those
If you're indirectly saying that they're beating top teams while hardly trying then that says the remaining teams should be deathly afraid of them.

They're doing it while having some of the worst advanced stats in the playoffs though.
I don't know, on paper Dallas got better this year and Edmonton got worse. There's an optimist in me that thinks this should be a recipe for a Dallas win. But the Oilers have shown over the past few seasons they're a streaky team. From last place to setting NHL win records only a month apart, and they're hot right not and simply breezed past two good teams.
We can say that they're two OT games from being down 3-2 in the Vegas series, but they're also a flub shot in game 1 against the Kings and a game winning goal with 0.4 seconds left away from being 8-1 in the playoffs this year. Hell, they're even getting middle of the pack goaltending out of a tandem that has no business being that average.

The wall of shame will be something

You ever heard of getting goalied in the playoffs?
They might be looking better against the Jets but they got dominated by the Avs in their series.
Dallas is doing what Edmonton always got called out for being carried by 1 player. Now Edmonton is having their old crappy depth score.
Putting up 20 shots a game wont cut it. Everyone cries about no one shooting on the bums Edmonton has now Skinner has his confidence back with back to back shutout wins.

RNH, Brown, Hyman, Podkolzin, Arvidsson, Henrique - are all scoring at almost double P/GP as they were in the regular season.
Dallas added a top scorer. Edmonton added more by having their aging depth turn into top line players over night.

The Stars top scorer from the reg season has played 3 playoff games.
One question, yes or no. Are the Avs/Jets better than the Kings/Knights. Yes or no not 10 paragraphs about how great the Oilers are.

So you're saying their goalie is playing elite? And that doesn't bode well for them because..
And you admit that they're improving.
If the formula worked for Edmonton then it almost makes logical sense that it would be effective against them. Because teams trying to beat them with structure and shut down hockey are failing at it.
The rush seems to be how teams expose the oilers and Skinner anyways.
