Wanting to get something done and stating intent and effort to do so is different than calling it done, and stating you will get it done.
I know I'd rather negotiate with the second guy!

Jeez, it's Craig Conroy.
Everyone knows he's the most optimistic, best interview out there. He's not the one negotiating. Lewis Gross, Treliving and everyone else in the league knows how Conny is.
Don't think he could ever say anything that would be considered "yikes" from me.
Guy is too much of a beauty.

I've always found "bud" to be one of the most condescending references a person can use.
Conroy has a history of blabbing.
I'm not the only one to suggest it's an issue.

Crazy how this whole ride started with Conny flying out to the Hobey Baker awards, and almost walking away from Gaudreau and his agent after advice from Burke to just tell them it’s over if they don’t sign.

It's not that bad, the worst is when someone goes "I love you passion but.."

I think this is good news regardless.
It really seems like this is a matter of when and not if regarding Johnny staying. There has been nothing but positive vibes from Conroy saying it will get done to Johnny’s Mom saying on twitter they would love an 8 year extension here to Brad Treliving saying they will move heaven and earth to keep their elite players here.
I would love to hear about an extension before the season is over but not sure that will happen.

I wonder if they have agreed on the big stuff (term and $) and are just negotiating remaining elements (trade movement clauses, bonuses, etc)

Why would anyone in Gaudreau's camp be upset with that little comment from Conroy? It's hardly declaring victory. Worst case scenario, the Gaudreau camp is indifferent to his comment. The only thing Conny's comment shows, is desire and motivation from the Flames to get it done, and that he's a priority. Show's he's wanted by the club.
Even if in the worst case scenario where Johnny has no intention of signing here, everyone still loves feeling wanted.

It's not something either side is going to get upset about or stop the talks over. I see the Conroy comment as more a faux pas from a business/negotiating point of view. Likely a nothing burger, just a bit "yikesy" from that perspective.

Both are dismissive. To you it may not seem that bad, but to others it will be.
A comment like: "Whatever you say bud" is just a different way of saying "You're an idiot," and even if the person writing it doesn't have that intention, it will probably be taken as a slight. "You're looking for something that's not there." is better without the "bud." Bud, buddy, or pal all kind of suck if you use it when addressing someone who is not an actual friend, although if Conroy called me bud, I'm not sure I'd feel insulted at all.
Also, I hope Conroy is right about Johnny!!

Maybe too much reading into things but not sure I can recall the Flames recently sending out both JG and Chucky to the same post-game presser.
As a reporter I would have a tough time not asking something along the lines of sooooo, do you boys see yourselves sitting at the same table at the same time just like this inking new deals?

Waiting for the return of Gaudreauvertime.
I don't think its that big a deal. Wasn't it Conny that was dispatched out to meet with the family to get JG signed up the first time?
You have to think they have a good rapport with Conroy.

His history of blabbing may be his saving grace. It makes it easy for Treliving to dismiss it as "That's just Connie being Connie".

Happy to hear it though.

Agreed. Though, it's true to character for Conroy. The guy is what he is and anyone who works with him should likely know it's not a negotiation thing, just a guy who's excitable and sometimes doesn't have a filter.
