Man Southgate really dicked that game up, got his tactics spot on to start but couldn't make a meaningful adjustment, and then botched the penalty selections. Absolutely brutal loss.

sad but true... there's always a number of pos fans that will spout off.
I am sure none of them feel as badly as the players do.

That's what you call cracking under the pressure of the moment. Yikes. I feel bad for English soccer fans right now.

Yeah. Can't argue with the result. Italy deserved it.
Penalty missers will get the brunt of the criticism but Sterling and Kane were no shows. And I'd question Southgate's playing not to lose rather than to win approach especially given what he had on the bench.

Maybe keep experience to take Pks, like Sterling, or Hendo.

Southgate made a lot of mistakes.

Penalties are so stupid. Hey guys, you played an outstanding competitive team game against eachother for hours and hours. Now let's decide it with the equivalent of flipping a coin over and over.

Sorry Southgate, but you ride the horses that brought you.
Making subs for Pens at 119 minutes was stupid.

You guys need to come with a solution. Already 6 subs now.

After 30 minutes, add a second ball. After 15 minutes add a third. Continue as needed until somebody, tired as they may be, leads at the end of a period.
The way championships were meant to be decided.

I'm happy Italy won for a lot of reasons, but I'm always glad the team who tries to make an effort to score actually win. England were just way too negative, made even worse when you consider the attacking talent they have. Rashford and Sancho should have had 20-30 minutes, especially if you're not using Sterling for penalties. Just a poor night from Southgate at the worst time.

"Cold" is not an excuse. It's not like they pulled a hamstring on the run up.
Italians missed 2 as well for full time players, but that doesnt matter either.
You have to kick the ball 12 yards and not think about it too much. These players have taken thousands of penalties in training of they've got to this level.
There were some decent saves and then Rashford trying to be too cute.

Rushford turned it. Brutal kick... with two babies coming up after him who then cracked. Southgate put them in a position to win. Rice had run himself ragged and saka defends better than Sancho or greenish. Only critique from me was Mount. Not a world class player for me. His team played poor and were just hoofing rhe ball away as soon as they regained it but for me his tactics took them to PKs in a major final. Better than any England manager since 66

Yes. Too negative. Got the early goal crowd going nuts, Italy reeling. Need to step on the gas and make it 2-0. Or perhaps the goal was a surprise and the team wasn't built for that.
