Making up things about this event is making me almost more upset than the event itself. Spreading of fake bull#### everywhere is why we are here. And it’s being continued, by people who are AGAINST that exact thing. Smarten up already.

Right. Like most places, it’s a small percentage of crazy people who make the masses look bad.

Not wanting to get off topic, but let’s not get too general with “they” comments. I can confidently say that just because 70 million people voted Republican, most of them condemn the riot. Most of them probably despise trump.
I like calling these handful of idiots trumpers or extremists, not Republicans or right wingers.

Let’s say some idiot in Calglary does something really stupid while wearing a Flames jersey. That doesn’t make all Flames fans idiots.

Remember that video of the cop just about getting the life squeezed out of him, was a white dude as was the poor soul who died. Not sure there was a racial line drawn within the police force as to who got posted where within the building that day.

Whatever the explanation, this was the single most bungled security failure ever in US history. At least on 9/11 it was a surprise so hard to prevent. Several law enforcement agencies knew this stuff was likely to occur and informed the CPD of such. Warnings were ignored obviously....why and by who are the pertinent questions.

To me the most astounding part of all this...now....is that there hasnt been a single news conference from metro police, capitol police, the FBI or anyone else that was responsible for security that day. In the past they have held them while events were still on going! Just bizarre and not sure why the Senators and House reps arent screaming from the roof tops about it all.

There has been a Washington PD press conference in that the chief appeared with the mayor. He said the CPD told them thanks but no thanks for help. Also, the governor of Virginia(?) held a press conference saying the National Guard was ready to go but they could not get anyone on the phone to approve it. Also, the CPD chief quit as of Friday so I assume that department is a complete #### show.

This makes sense to me though from a ... I don’t know the right word ... self preservation view. Up until now, if you speak out, you get vilified by party leadership and by constituents. Romney is a good example, he gets crapped on by Republics or more accurately ReTrumplicans all the time. He has a respected and well known name which keeps him somewhat relevant. If you’re a leader from Alaska nobody has heard of do you speak up in 2018 and end your career? Perhaps Murkowski felt she was in a good position to help the people she served, plus - and this is a huge motivator - she was getting paid well.

I’m sure many of us have worked for people who had a differing view than we did and who may have made decisions we considered possibly unethical or at minimum not the direction we would take. We continue working there because we need a job and/or maybe we feel we can make a change or a difference. Eventually we move on and when it’s all over we look back on the totality of it all and say “this was wrong”. In the middle of it all, it is harder to pull the pin though.

Well, it got carried to the next page. A video titled “returning from DC”, two ladies who are identifiable are now labeled on the internet as terrorists/coup participates, despite just being entitled dummies who didn’t want to wear masks. It’s a problem.

I’m not arguing with you that Florida sucks. I’m clarifying that this video is irrelevant, and figured you would see why that was a big issue.

Their leaders (Pelosi and McConnell) are the ones in charge of appointing the Sergeants of Arms that the CPD chief reports to.

You have a big problem when the individual police officers are part of the problem. It was kind of shocking to see how many cops and ex-cops I know went full Trump after the "defund the police" talk.
