Not sure why Hodgson had to go. He was the only man in England with a coherent plan to exit Europe.
(shamelessly stolen from elsewhere)

Winner of Germany/Italy would be the toughest one IMO, strong enough managers to gameplan for Iceland, but the size and strength of Iceland up front will still cause them problems.
France & Belgium I think could happen.
Belgium I think would be a possibility. Their best offensive weapon is murderously fast attacks, which can be taken out with conservative play. Strategically Belgium is not that great.
France I think will run over Iceland quite easily. They have the skill, the creatitivity and the fighting spirit that was missing from Englands game, and they don't panic in front of home crowds. As Portugal showed, Icelands defense is good but not special. Only reason Iceland couldn't win that game was because Portugal just couldn't put the ball in the net.
Germany would just run over them like they did with Slovakia. If you let the Germans control the ball, they'll dominate the game.
Italy might have some trouble. Slow attacks are not their strength.
England was pretty much the perfect opponent for them, a predictable team with well known tendency to fold under pressure.
When it comes to Woy's successor, my absolute favourite would be Eddie Howe. A dynamic young manager with fresh ideas is exactly what this team needs ... but I highly doubt that a) Bournemouth would let him go and b) Howe would risk it at this point of his career. Probably better to stay at Bournemouth, they idolize him there, and rightly so.
What about Laurent Blanc? Just let go by PSG. Was pretty meh when he managed France, but I wouldn't be surprised if he did a better job abroad.
also, not that I actually expected anything of decency from the English press, but of course the Sun have been their usual classy self by plastering Rooneys six year old son on the title page. Well done, scumbags. What the actual hell is wrong with those "journalist" idiots over there?
