There is a good chance of this but people will be less concerned about it if they clear out some vets and play some kids. I can live with just missing the playoffs if 3-4 of our AHLers are in the lineup all season.

Sutter or not, this team is due for quite a correction next season pending they don't blow it up.

Honestly, I'd be shocked if they aren't battling for the Division next season just due to simple correction.

The amount of bad luck the Flames suffered through this season has to be up there with the unluckiest teams of the past 20+ years. I've said it before and I'll say it again because of how hilariously true it is, but I hope someone does a statistical deep-dive of the 2022-23 Flames at some point, because literally everything that could've gone wrong did go wrong, and they still had a fighting chance at the end.

By far the most in awe I've been about a Flames season just from a probability standpoint.

I'm as big a Darryl Sutter fan as there is on here (and I will forever defend that brilliant hockey mind), but next year is going to be so fun just simply based on the correction we'll see combined with the influx of young talent and culture change.

Yes that mediocre team that did nothing before he came here.

50 wins in the regular season, yeah maybe we can put up a banner celebrating it!

Sutter is a hall of fame coach who grossly mismanged the roster last year and his media antics just made things worse.

Saying we have no talent is a dumb take.
There is talent but just not any really elite talent. No game breakers right now.

The stats have been available for a while now and it shows the team got exactly what they deserve.

It wasn't some super unlucky season. They played a quantity over quality brand of hockey that's not luck. The posts and crossbar while it felt like a lot teams that made the playoffs a hit more than us. Goaltending Seattle and LA had just as bad goaltending and made the playoffs.

The team should be a lot better if the next coach allows the stars to be stars and focuses in on the powerplay.

They finished first in the Pacific, 3rd in the west.

Winning your division over an 82 game season is actually a decent accomplishment.

I recognize the year wasn't good but it's over. Let's try and be a little bit optimistic and positive with the changes coming.

Aside from Wolf, there needs to be a lot more quotation marks around the word "talent" if those are the names involved. NHL players maybe, but that's a pretty low bar for the team's best prospects, and highly questionable if some of them even reach that.

I'm aware the team doesn't have any blue chip prospects outside of Wolf. But I still think those guys can be decent contributors on the team even if they don't become star players. You need depth to win in the NHL

Phillips is not seen by many as a viable NHLer.

Wolf is a big hope for sure.

Coronato and Pelltier offer hope also.

Which stats are you looking at? Because from what I can see that just isn’t true.

2nd in CF%
5th in xGF%
3rd in SCF%
11th in HDCF%
31st in PDO

Sure, they need better goaltending and they need better finishing but that is about as unlucky as you can get in the hockey world over 82 games.

Most teams that have PDO that low aren’t just missing the playoffs, they are favorites to win the draft lottery.
