And the Vegas return is rental whereas Boston wasn't.

You can’t use that as a comparison

Marchand used his contractual leverage to narrow the field. So it's identical.

Boston had worked out a trade with someone that complied with his trade protection.
He told them he wouldn't report and only wanted to go to Florida.

Really? Never heard that one. I guess he can do that as well. Not like he had a lot to lose.

Well the rumors were false...he told Conroy he wouldn't sign and extension with anyone when we all know he will sign one in Vegas.

He would be willing to. But he hasn't been given an offer yet and he might not like what he's given, based on their cap situation.

Well, you go do the math and make it work. Plus sign their RFAs.

Whitecloud reminds me a bit of Hamonic except the Flames got him along with picks instead of in exchange for them.
RHS, 6'2", big 5v5+PK minutes, from Manitoba. Both came to Calgary on good cost-controlled contracts. But this time, Whitecloud won't have the spectre of being traded for a 1st+2 2nds hanging over his head. Instead, he'll be playing with house money. CGY should be able to do quite well here.

Boston needs to learn a lesson and stop being a team that coddles their players.

It wouldn’t be hard for him to match Hamonic’s performance in Calgary

So with all the new wrinkles ... doesn't Vegas have to be cap compliant at the end of training camp next year?
If they sign Andersson wouldn't that mean they'd have to find a taker for the final year of Pietrangelo's contract?
Would be interesting if the Flames picked up an additional 2nd or 3rd to facilitate.

Some dead cap could come in handy next year, where they could dress a younger roster and really bottom out for a shot at that elusive 1C.

This is correct. And losing Pietrangelo is the only way I see them affording the $8-9M required for Andersson, which change to sign their other positions.
