I wonder how Dany will be convinced of the White Walker threat. Her dragons are the only hope at this point.

I thought I worded it in such a way that I'm speculating that Sam convinced Ollie that Jon should be killed for the greater good. Not that Jon definitely dies, or that if Ollie kills him it's different from the books, where Jon "definitely" dies.
People need to chill the **** out about "spoilers" when hypotheticals are raised. Especially about this show and book series.

Just let them watch the show. Don't be a ######, they've asked us repeatedly for 5 years but there's always some jerk who needs to keep pushing it.
You've read the books, you know Jon's getting stabbed. There's no other Nights Watch members we care about outside of Sam and Ed, and they aren't stabbing him, of course Ollie is looking like the prime suspect. You know this because you've read the book. They haven't, so don't be a tool and ruin it for them.
If you want to discuss differences between the book and show, this is the thread to do it in right now.

Maybe John doesn't get stabbed in the show? Maybe he doesn't even die? Maybe they don't have him warg into Ghost because that doesn't work in a TV show like it would in a book?
You're being sensitive to something that isn't a spoiler because you've read the book. Without knowing anything about what happens in the book, you can see some wheels turning in Ollie's head. Sorry for commenting about that and offending your delicate sensibilities.

Or he does, and you're on a path of ruining it for them because you want to sound smart?
You've read the books, you know future storylines. Jon getting stabbed is currently the ultimate spoiler at this point, don't mention it at all in that other thread. Don't be a jerk.
If you want to talk about Whitewalkers or Tyrion and Daenerys, it's a lot different because we know as much as they do about that, but you know Jon gets stabbed so you shouldn't allude to it in the slightest.
This has been the norm for 5 years, it's been a bannable offense to post "book" stuff in that thread. They've asked us to keep out or keep potential spoilers out of that thread. But you need to try and sound smart or something.
And I bet you'd feel a lot different about spoilers if you got the next book spoiled for you because of some jackass on the internet.

I just don't get why you would word it at all, there's nothing to add to the discussion for it.
All it's going to cause is if it happens someone is going to go back to that post, see that you've posted in this thread, and just the whinging will be massive
there's enough problems with that thread of people making 'guesses' who say they haven't 'read the books and/or wiki'

So has the Wildling army basically been converted to the dead? Last I checked, all the remaining wildlings were at Hardhome and it looked liked only a fraction of them escaped the attack.

I remember John saying to Tormund that they were leaving to many behind, but I think he said they were able to load up 5000 or something. Which is a start.
They also gave us the number of Stannis' army, 6000. I can't think that is just a coincidence, for some reason they want us to have an estimate of how big these forces are.

Now that I've had some light cast onto it, I'm leaning towards fully believing Jon Snow is Lyanna and Raegar's son. If you're looking for it, the first book supports the idea through hints and foreshadowing pretty thoroughly. I realize you've all moved on but I just had to throw that out there. The only part that doesn't support him being a dragon lord is the fire he used to kill an Other did burn him, but not all the targaryens were immune to fire anyway.

I think it is specifically dragon fire the Targaryens are/were immune to as well, not just any old regular fire no?

The funeral pyre Daenerys walked into with the eggs was "regular" fire.

Anyone complaining about the show differing too much from the books this season needs to shut it after that last episode. One of the greatest moments in the series and GRRM didn't even write about it

I'm also assuming it worked on the walker because it was Valyrian steel.
I really enjoyed the whole Hard Home sequence, but I also could have taken a whole episode of Tyrion and Daenerys.

In the books Sam reads that Dragonsteel was another way to combat the Others. What exactly Dragonsteel is is unknown, but both him and Jon believe that it could be Valyrian Steel.

I'm caught still thinking about the hooded man rowing the boat Jon escaped on. If it were just a nobody extra sailor there to row the boat why cover him in a robe and shield his face. He looked pretty large as well and was shown more than once.
Possibly Benjin or Coldhands?
