Dach, Beck and a 1st for Razz fully retained. I can live with that.

If Hage and Zharovsky are off the table, not much dealings to be had with Habs on a bigger type deal for Kadri. Beck is a very meh prospect and is more of a throw in at this point, assume he holds more of 2/3 round value.

Then there is no deal to be made. That's why deals are so hard to do, everybody wants to keep their best assets while acquiring other teams best assets.

Taking a while to get to 5000

They wanted or were good with Hague and a 1st. Xhekaj and a 1st fits that bill.
They’re even close to the same size in addition to being LHD.

Ya, I could do that for Andersson. If they want both Kadri and Andersson though I would want Hage in that deal.

Maybe. I honestly wonder if the asking price has only gone up since the summer though. Feels like both Andersson and Flames management are in a better spot right now in terms of trading him compared to when he shot down a trade to LA. His play is the best it’s ever been and the team is in no rush yet to trade him. Not sure the flames would accept that Vegas offer today if Hague was still with them.

Brz being scratched. Flames heavy scouting Montreal. Sec’s message yesterday could have been Montreal. Maybe we see that happen soon…

I'd lean Slavin so Andersson can play more offensively.
With Slavin coming back soon, I'd love it if Calgary could ask about Nikishin. That way, Carolina rolls out with pairings of:
Slavin - Andersson
Miller - Walker
Ghost - Chatfield
Reilly
They have a LOT of players already tied into contracts with NMCs/NTCS/modified NTCs, etc. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen a lineup where only 3 or 4 of the 23 players are not tied to any sort of trade protection.
CAR/DAL 1st + Nadeau would be what I'm after if we cannot grab Nikishin 1 for 1. I know it's likely a tough ask to try and pry Nikishin, but wouldn't he lose ice time with Slavin coming back? Just a thought.
There's also Svechnikov that we could perhaps flip in a 3-way trade. Maybe Utah for Iginla?
Something like:
To CAR: Andersson
To UTA: Svechnikov
To CGY: Iginla
Figure out the +/-'s amongst those three, but I think the fit is there. Utah rolls out a top 6 lineup with another decent winger that deserves ice time of:
Keller - Schmaltz - Guenther
Peterka - Cooley - Svechnikov
(I know Cooley is better than Schmaltz, but based off of the Keller/Schmaltz chemistry they stay together).
Carolina could then use their excess draft capital to grab a better fit than Svech. I suppose there could be a better fit for Utah, but I don't think they'd not say no right away to trading Iggy if it made sense.
|
Interesting trade proposal, calgary easily pulls the trigger on homecoming for Iginla, sprinkle a little McKenna, what a PR fantasy for next, that is something the fans could get behind, Utah gets a player that can help them know, but does Andersson make Carolina better minus svechnikov, not sure

I wonder about Kapanen from the Habs.
1st + Kapanen + Engstrom wouldn't be a bad package for Kadri

I can see Kadri to Montreal making sense more so than Andersson...they already have Hutson and Dobson on the back signed to big deals
Kadri(2 million retention per year) for 2027 1st (top 10 protection....but give Montreal the option to defer the pick to 2028 if the want, a 2026 second round, plus a prospect.

I wouldn't accept that. I don't think Engstrom is anything but future AHL depth. Kapanen is an ok piece, RS centre but I see him as a 2nd line C at best if he hits the best case. I would rather do Hage straight up for Kadri then those pieces. They can even add a cap dump. I also think Hage is a future #1C though.

I agree with this. We need to start taking swings at higher end prospects. Quantity isn’t quality.

Why let Montreal defer the pick? It’s already protected and already not a 2026 pick? Seems like Montreal would be getting a lot of choice/protection on that pick. For how high demand Kadri is supposedly, I hope we can get more than that… especially with retention.

Most acquiring teams would rather have quality over quantity
Getting the other team to do that is the challenge.

I think it's going to be very hard for CC to get a 2026 draft pick, it's a deep draft, Andersson with an extension could get one, not sure Kadri gets the same.

Just because we don’t know exactly why Brz has been healthy-scratched today at this point… could he possibly be included in a trade?
Would be strange IMO unless a young RS defenceman of higher upside was coming back in the trade.

His play appears to be fine. I read tweets earlier today saying he's been a pretty significant part of the wranglers so far. He's on a . 5 ppg pace so far this year.

Dach is a soon to be 25 year old RFA who is a 30 point a year center, that would be a pretty bad package for Ras the way he is playing. Suspect Beck tops out as a 3rd line center and a 1st. I would hope there are better offers than that for Ras.
I guess Dach is a warm body that can play some NHL games when he is not injured so there is that.

Conroy wants to see some heads in the fanbase literally explode so he's trading Brz and re-signing Ras to 9.5x8.
Jokes aside, as much as I wouldn't want to let go of Brz, we have a fair number of defensive prospects, and if packaging Brz with one of Andersson, Coleman or Kadri drastically increased the return, especially if it was for a stud young prospect and a 1st at a minimum, I would be alright with packaging him.
