I think Lomberg is a personality hire for the flames at this point.
He seem loud, positive and jokey.

For a team like the Flames, its important that they keep things loose and light.

If the Flames really do tear it down and commit to adding younger players, I wonder if CC will seek to add some toughness to the lineup? Teams can't be hitting Parekh/Griddin/Reschney/McKenna without paying a price, and it's not like Lomberg is any kind of great deterrent, but he will stick up for his teammates.

The previous rebuild had the likes of Engellend, McGrattan, and Lucic. I could see CC keeping Lomberg and adding a thug on the blue line.

The perfect 12th/13th forward.

Moving out Andersson, Kadri, and Coleman does remove some grit but I do not believe that any of those guys are going to be first to ring the bell and make sure the other team is 'paying a price'.

At this point, I would probably expect that more out of Klapka. Even if he isn't the best fighter, there is something about having another team's big guy at 6'6" having to look up at his opponent. Phillips could add some deterrent too if he can show that he can play bottom pairing minutes and throw down when needed.
