Looking back at Q&A with Tre (when he was still with Coyotes):
"My management style has always been about the people. If you can put the right people in place that are passionate, willing to roll up their sleeves, do whatever it takes to be successful, and have the right foundational skill set, you are going to be successful. Whether it is by luck or good fortune, I’ve had the ability to identify good people. "
Yeah, we sure saw it with all those coaching hires
"I think Don has used the line, “It may take us a little bit of time, but nobody is going to outwork us"
Never forget to reassure everyone how hard you work
"I favor a very North American style game. The NHL game is a physical game, it always has been, and it always will be. If you can get players that play with pace, compete harder, be more consistent, and have a more physical edge, then you can have success. "
Is our roster anything like this though? To be fair, his highest draft picks - Bennett and Tkachuk - are somewhat of this style, although Tkachuk does not exactly "play with pace" and Bennett is not exactly "consistent". But the roster as whole, the way it's construced? Not much really. What he described here is basically 2004 Flames. Speed, tenacity, physicality, consistency. Conroy, Gelinas, even plugs like Nieminen. Tre's teams are not like this at all. Tre himself admitted as much, when he recently said that current team's identity is inconsistency.
