Ignore Mikey. What an embarrassment that he decides to post that in a thread where the lunatic is still on the loose.

Is this old man in a vest an actual threat or just some poor schmuck wearing a vest? I thought someone said he had a dead man trigger.

That's what they were worried about because he kept nodding his head when they came close and was arching his back. Could have just been a precaution on the part of the police.

This story as it develops is just nuts. A couple seemingly ordinary students went sideways at the world.
Sounds like that they perhaps became supporters of terrorists viewpoints.

What was the deal with the guy the police arrested that was stripped. That must not be related to this? Maybe the MIT shooting?

1 dead, 1 on the run and this guy.
Anybody here heard an update on this guy they took into custody what is the reasoning behind his arrest?

The MIT shooting involved both suspects of the bombing, one ended up dead (suspect 1, older brother) and suspect 2 is outstanding in a large suburb of the Greater Boston Area. The guy police "arrested" was the victim of a car-jacking, who alleges that both suspect 1 and suspect 2 identified themselves as the bomber to the victim.

I'm blown away that people can listen in on the scanners, I would have thought that in this case they would have used encrypted radios.

Apparently this is the guy's twitter page. From a Russian hockey writer.

Tsarnaev's twitter: @J_Tsar

The background on Dzhakhar Tsaranyev's Twitter profile is the logo of Anzhi Makhachkala, Russia's premier league soccer team from Dagestan

Listening to the uncle it sounds like the older brother had no social skills and just kind of dragged the younger one into this. The uncle called the older brother a loser and wishes he never existed and said he could see this coming, which is pretty atypical of what you hear from family members in these sorts of things

No way they'd have the capacity to keep everything on encrypted, especially with all the agencies involved. I would have to think all the tactical channels relating to each team are encrypted.

I feel pretty bad for the Uncle, definitely a lot of shame and anger there.

The open channels we're listening to are for relaying other channels and general info between departments since there are about 8 difference agencies and PD's involved.

They must be because you can hear them talk about switching to different stations or radios. And the details that you hear over this radio is more location information not how they are going to approach the situation.

Yeah I get what the feeds are. Encryption is just too costly and impractical for everything was the point I was getting at. The majority of patrol radios within CPS for example aren't encrypted. And to be able to patch various agencies together through encryption would be a nightmare.

I was backing up your point about how some are and some aren't.

I thought the uncle was amazing in that press conference. Probably a pretty bad *ss guy under different circumstances.

Sounds like some pretty upstanding leadership in Chechnya.

I think I respect Uncle Ruslan. He spoke passionately about what it means to live in the USA.

And now from an Aunt living in Toronto....

Quote:
TORONTO - The Etobicoke aunt of two men tied to the Boston Marathon bombings doesn’t want to believe her nephews are being labeled terrorists.
In an exclusive interview with the Toronto Sun Friday morning, Maret Tsarnaev said Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, and his older brother Tamerlan, 26, were being framed.
“This is a huge tragedy for the family,” Tsarnaev, 45, said. “My brother’s two boys, they are growing up so fast. My first reaction is, ‘Why the hell would they do this?’ But when I go through all the material, it’s not giving anything … the whole world is now making a decision (on them) now by just seeing these pictures and not having anything else.”
The aunt said she hasn’t seen the two men for five years, but knew they were living in Cambridge. Dzhokhar had a love of math and was attending school there. As was Tamerlan, but it was unclear if he dropped out when his daughter was born, two years ago.
These two boys, all they must have in their heads at this age is love,” she said. “I cannot believe Tamerlan is dead. This cannot be true

Yeah sounds like it. Father says the younger one is an angel. Nothing about older one. Wouldn't doubt if the older one was the mastermind of all this. Sounds like the younger brother fit in quite well. Sad all around.
