I don't believe that that can even happen without parliamentary approval.

It was grandstanding at its purest.

Now if the Liberals are smart they will start 'innuendos' and 'suggesting' whats really in there.

You're right, but it's not just one party that's making the demand, it's all of them.

Could they not have done something about the god damned echo in that room? The audio was terrible.

I think that's irrelevant though.
without a government in session, there can be no oversight on the release.

That would explain why there's a similar letter every time there's a minority government then. Oh wait... there isn't.

Can't see the puck in the net, but it sure as heck isn't anywhere else. We don't need Obama's birth certificate to know he's an American and we don't need a letter that says "coalition" to know what the "close consultation" between Harper, Layton and Duceppe was about... especially when two of the three are willing to tell us exactly what it was about.
I'll note that Harper just denies it was a coalition (because he thinks the parper trail isn't strong enough), but won't tell us what else it could have been. There's no evidence whatsoever to show that it isn't a coalition. (Therefore, by your logic, it is not not a coalition.) All the evidence other than Harper's word points towards a coalition.

My favorite part was when Ignatieff mentioned meeting a Winnipeg gangbanger teetering on the precipice of leaving high school for the thug life.

Exactly. If it wasn't a planned coalition, then what was it? The letter asked the Governor General to "consider all options" if Martin's Liberals lost the confidence of the House. There are only two possible options in that case: dissolve parliament and call an election OR ask the other parties to form a functioning government that has the confidence of the House.

Sounds like Chretien's story about having coffee with a homeless man every morning.

Gilles Duceppe has really gone off the rails, I have absolutely no idea what he is talking about anymore.

lol
even those two couldn't agree on what happened. Layton says he stormed out of that hotel room because he wasn't ready to make Harper the Prime Minister, Duceppe says that wasn't the case. Believe what you want I guess, but citing anything those two buffoons say as any sort of factual evidence is laughable.

I'll take two buffoons, a letter, and a little bit of reading between the lines over one buffoon.

Ark2: if Harper wasn't planning a coalition in 2004, then what exactly did he mean when he asked the GG to consider all the options if the Liberals lost a confidence vote?
