My Koodo Cyber Monday deal was cheaper than FIZZ (Videotron flanker brand in Quebec). And works way better outside Quebec. I was on Freedom for a long time out West though. The deal I got was better than market for a lot of years.

But one of the issues is if there's a sector with high barriers to entry, once you've paid to get through those barriers it's better to make oligopolistic profits at lower market share than normal profits. Why destroy the cartel when you can join it?

Maybe he lied about being indigenous and stole money and advanced his personal wealth but surely he's not a drug dealer as well?

A company co-owned by Employment Minister Randy Boissonnault shared a post office box with a woman who was detained in two major drug busts

It’s a connection that could reveal security gaps in the federal government’s vetting of cabinet picks, corporate ethics and law experts say, and raises new questions about the minister’s judgment amid a recent series of troubling revelations.

You haven't being paying attention or are misguided if you think we are mainly bringing in doctors, nurses, carpenters, electricians, teachers. Don't imagine, and get informed. This is probably why we still have folks somehow still supporting Liberals because of these types of uninformed misconceptions.

If that was what we were bringing in, it wouldn't be a problem and actually be a benefit

Compare 2023 immigration numbers to immigration under Harper 10 years prior (who was always widely criticized as anti-immigration) and before the century initiative think tank, you will find that the skilled worker category has not changed drastically despite expansion of the provincial nominee program, while TFW, refugees, international students have all increased significantly. Note that economic class totals even when isolating to principal applicants still includes caregivers / nannies and a few other categories I would certainly not qualify as highly skilled.

2013 Economic Immigrants—Principal Applicants 64,765

2023 Economic – principal applicants 149,549

Compare the numbers for yourself. So while you have over doubled the amount of economic class by 10 years from a government known to be restrictive on immigration to a pro-immigration one, you aren't going to get to 100 million by getting 150000 economic class applicants + their family a year. You need to fluff it up with a lot of uber drivers.

Look up International students – study permit holders and TFW on pages 12 and 13 and how much they have increased over the years, even under Liberal governments.

Anyways, there's a reason why Trudeau and Miller are making PR rounds about being strict on immigration all of a sudden and how they are beating the drum on how much they are doing, and it has little to do with the skilled worker side which is untouched.

Yeah, it's because Pierre P is getting headway with racist generalizations and attacks.

This whole episode has been infuriating. Randy is such a doofus in real life too, I suppose it shouldnt be surprising. He also blackmailed Don Iveson to keep the riding when his association wanted to turf him.

Anyways, having domestically manufactured PPE in earnest in Canada during the pandemic, this story and the breakdown's story were really, personally insulting. #### these #######s.

Well they could have turfed him from the party maybe?

Or is he just too corrupt to be in a cabinet position, but not too corrupt to be a Liberal?

If course, Elmo retweets conspiracies about Pizzagate, so why should we expect him to fact check anything at this point.
The article by tombe is about the gap widening. For someone to read the article and think the main takeaway is that "there's always been a gap so everything is fine" implies a comprehension level that is so utterly low IQ that said person either has to be disingenuous in their reasoning or special needs.

The title of the article is literally, divergences reaches NEW RECORD

It notes, "Real GDP per capita there grew by 0.6 percent in the second quarter, a 2.6 percent increase from last year, and a 4.5 percent increase since 2022. If Canada had simply kept pace with the U.S. over the past two years, our economy would be 8.5 percent larger—that’s about $6,200 more income per Canadian each year.

But as bad as this data may look, there’s more.

A longer historical perspective reveals a striking reality: the gap between the Canadian and American economies has now reached its widest point in nearly a century. If this continues, we’ll have not persistently seen this wide of a gap since the days of John A. Macdonald."

I'm honestly shocked by this. It is atypical for a Trudeau Minister to step down in shame as a result of scandal. I don't know if Randy is just noble in his action or if there is a lot more to his scandal which hasn't made it to the surface yet and this is pre-emptive damage control.

How absolutely on point. And yet, a complete miss from our resident Maple MAGA.

The original hobgoblin-created graph had Trudeau as the break point (well, Trudeau's face).

Now here's the crayon part of the picture:

Your specious gaslighting is exactly what I posted - there never was a 'break point' - the gap has existed for more than century.

Disengenous pablum-based gaslighting indeed. But, par for the course.

That sounds like yet another thing he's just saying off the cuff without anyone having considered any of the details or what it would actually entail.

What happens to our $1.5 billion? How'd that even work, anyway? That was the weirdest flush of cash in Alberta history, and we've had a lot of weird flushes of cash in this province.

So you disagree with a chart that shows growth rates of Canada matching the growth rate of the US for a couple decades, and then substantial divergence in GDP growth per capital after Trudeau took office?

Yet, that's exactly what the Tombe discussion also says. Which you agree with.

So you disagree with a chart, but agree with Tombe, who says the exact same thing?

Lmao. Okay then

The mayor and city councillors in Dawson City are refusing to swear an oath to King Charles.

https://globalnews.ca/news/10878814/...-charles-oath/

One of the councillors is a member of one of the local First Nations and didn't feel comfortable swearing an oath to the monarchy due to the troubled historical relationship and the rest have also refused to show support.

Imagine having to swear an oath to a foreign king and his future descendants in order to fulfill the duties Canadians elected you for.

Yup.

Very good sign for Canada if the Trump administration sees us as a partner to work with versus someone to fight with on the tariff front.
