I guess I'd rather Liverpool win this.
Not sure I want Chelsea saying they've won anything; their current form of misery is nice to see.

Did Klopp shake hands with the linesman there & snub the ref?

Imagine losing to a depleted lineup and a bunch of teenagers. Pounds don’t win games.

We are the Champions of Camp Cariboo!!!

I will say this in seriousness...I've never been overly concerned abut this Cup, and I'm still not, to me its not about the Trophy. Its about how we won it.

The Team Ethos. The fact that the squad was half children. The 'never say die' attitude.

Couldnt be happier about it. Live it up guys.

Liverpool Academy Players today.

- Jarell Quansah
- Conor Bradley
- Bobby Clark
- James McConnell
- Jayden Danns

Also Academy players but with experience.

- Caoimhin Kelleher
- Joe Gomez

- Harvey Elliott...I dont know how you'd classify him.
And thats not even counting the guys who didnt get off the bench.

The only real downside remains...you're not going to get a bunch of goals out of these kids.

Everton had their points deduction reduced to 6 on appeal.

Ugh...doesnt even matter really this whole thing is a joke, City havent gotten anything.

Besides, it still should have happened last season then they'd have been relegated and playing in the Championship.

I guess this is like everything else, but it's just so arbitrary. Like what determines a 10 point deduction from the 6? They clearly broke the rules, and that doesn't seem to be in question, it's just that they dropped the penalty from 10 to 6 because they appealed?

But then there wouldn’t be the easy six points.

Problem was the premier league didn't set any standards which they should have done as far as points per dollar. So this Everton case was always going to become the legal/administrative precedent and everyone knew it would take a long time. The next ones should get quicker and quicker.

My understanding:
For 2021 year end Everton lost 124.5 million over the previous three years, allowable losses were about 35 million a season-ish. So they got punished roughly a loss or 3 points for each 10 million pounds over as of this final decision.

As I understand it, the breach wasn't debated at the appeal, Everton accepted guilt, just argued the penalty. So we have a bar now.

Forest were 15 million over the limit for 2022. Their limit was way lower because they were only in the prem for one season so that was about a 50 million pound loss (35 mil allowed). Everton's 3 year losses again in 2022 were either 141 or 155 million, they are arguing with the EPL about some expense classification. But actually worse than 2021 even and a 40-50 million pound overage..

Total guess on my end, but my throw of the dart is Forest will lose 4 or 5 points and Everton might get smoked again with another, bigger penalty or at least another equal one.

The thing I think the EPL are working out now is because they're measuring based on 3 seasons, will Everton get a straight 9-12 point deduction as per these new rules for their losses over 2020, 2021 and 2022 or will they just fine them for the "new" 2022 losses using some kind of average which will probably be 4-7 pts.

Either way, pretty bad news for Everton to lose 6 points for a 20 million overage when they were even dumber the following season. I think they are going to lose at least another 6 pts and both Forest and Everton are realistically both sitting level or behind Luton right now in reality. I think both clubs deserve it. Especially forest, they have completely distorted the transfer market and their owner is a huge meathead. City's losses are more complicated as I understand they are more about fake sponsorships/fraud in their accounts? Haven't really looked into it, but I don't think they've gone over the losses in this new system. But I'm really glad to see these rules being enforced now moving forward... there's effectively a known spending cap in the prem now being enforced.

Matty, I can see where you have gone wrong with this.

You’ve tried to make sense of it all and I suspect in doing so, you’ve given it far more thought and consideration than the EPL.

Haha, yeah it does seem like a convoluted and opaque mess. And honestly a bit arbitrary and unfair that they just started doing it now when Everton look at the losses clubs like Chelsea racked up years ago.

Seems like today the bar was set at 3 points per 10 million over the limit though. Some little bit of clarity.

Now we just need to see how they handle previous point deductions penalties and my hope is we have a system in place that actually gets enforced.

Have Chelsea wasted €1.1B?

Quote:
Since then under Boehly, Chelsea have handed out seven-year contracts seemingly for fun and paid more than €1 billion in transfer fees for 28 new players -- a previously unthinkable sum of money for a previously unthinkable number of acquisitions in an 18th-month span. After adding all of that investment to what was already one of the best teams on the planet, they have since finished 12th in the Premier League last year and are 10th this season.

According to the site Transfermarkt, Chelsea have spent €1.1 billion on transfer fees since summer 2022.

It appears that way. I can't write them off entirely, but for that amount of money to be where they're at?

Whether its a waste or not...they cant be happy with where they are.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Liverpool's lineup is going to be for the FA Cup...I'm guessing its going to look a little...young.

There's at least a couple hundred million on players that shouldn't even be there. Players who have no place being on a "top" EPL team.

It is weird, it does feel as though Boehly is a young boy with a new toy and he couldnt wait to play with it so he just dove in without reading the instructions.

He's also a pretty thin front for his backers, so to him the money doesnt mean much.
