My quote about insane amount of money was the taxpayer funded arena for the Flames. I may be wrong but the city is trying to recoup a million in enforcement related costs in this parking situation. Personally there is enough of a surplus and enough in the existing pie to offset that, I am sure there is enough fine revenue generated to offset the expense as well but that's my opinion.

I bet the fines would recover the costs of enforcement, not the admin of the pass program.

I think this makes sense (maybe) in the denser areas where street space is at a premium but if maximizing value if the goal, why not just put this on all streets.
Go to Pineridge (or most neighborhoods), there's thousands of cars on the streets parked all the time. Why not charge them all $1000/year everywhere. Since the City is a business and extracting value is key.
Charge to park in city facilites/leisure centres.
Why does the parking need to be very difficult to come by to need to have a charge? Charge everywhere. Get a fleet of parkplus vehicles and we could eliminate property taxes with the revenue.

Lets also tax based on the size of the vehicle. Want to park a lifted F350 on the street? That's gonna cost $1500. Want to park a scooter or motorcycle? That's $50.

Users of the MyParking app with motorcycles and cars less than 3.8 m long (there aren't many cars out there meeting this requirement; a Fiat 500 is 3.6 m for reference) get a 25% discount in Park Plus zones.

More concerning is this council seems to just roll out policy and then backtrack when people complain. Great leaders we have.

We'll end up making the difference in our property taxes anyway. It seems baffling convoluted for no good reason at all.

Oh, and the fee formula includes a multiplication factor based on the RRO...the same RRO Smith had artificially reduced for election grifting, and is now higher to make up for that. So the Enmax fee is artificially higher based on that, I think.
