Bure got screwed around in Vancouver before Burke ever set foot there. I wasn't pleased with the Burke hiring when announced, but I have little or nothing to gripe about with his time. I wouldn't be at all apprehensive about Burke dealing with Gaudreau at all. I actually think he has helped to turn the reputation of this team around, quite frankly.

You say it's irrelevant. I say it's telling. There's not a single other Flames executive (or owner or player) who who would display that kind of poor judgement in public Think about it.
I brought it up because some posters here have been questioning Burke and his role in negotiations, and I happen to agree that he's a loose cannon. I would go so far as to say he's a liability.

Also, christ is that article poorly written. Some interesting stuff but just awful to read. Wasn't surprised too see Botchford when I scrolled up to see who wrote it.

Burke also usually plays a large role in building Team USA (although maybe not anymore after the WC). Have to think he wants a good relationship with Gaudreau.

I wonder if we could group buy a massive amount of antianxiety medication for CP. It could only improve the quality of these Gaudreau threads. Now we are arguing about Burke? When does Harvey the Hound become an issue. My source (aka my ass) hears Johnny is a cat person and doesn't like Harvey.

I heard he actually had issues with pyromania in his youth and that his therapist thinks playing for the Flames could dig up some deep seated issues. They're probably negotiating a name change for the team, nothing to do with dollars or term.

I'm thinking about it, and I still have no idea how you project a joke to a bunch of law students onto Burke's ability to impact negotiations. Telling of what? That he makes the same jokes every 60 year old business man makes? Oh nooooo.
How about we call Burke a liability to negotiations when he does something... anything... that indicates that. It'd be way better than people making pretty grand judgements based on "well I dunno, I don't like him ok?"

If you don't like Burke that's fine. But you really are making something out of nothing with this one. Maybe it's time to get over it.
Not a single other Flames executive, owner or player would show that kind of "poor judgement"? Okay, gotcha. I've been to lots of Flames events and heard jokes that were way more offside than a lawyer/hooker joke.

Tell me one. All ears.
Burkes joke went over like a lead balloon. Really good for the Flames.
But again, tell me. I bet you can't.

Well, as a distinguished alumni of that institution I can tell you there's been a lot worse jokes there.

General fanager has a similar number but it looks like Smid is already on IR on it

The snowwoman thinks Johnny should get 8+ mil and the snowman thinks Johnny should get 7 mil

McKenzie: Gaudreau & Flames are closing gap, but it's still a considerable gap.

I dunno, but everything on CapFriendly appears to be accurate. Those are the numbers I would trust personally.
