Just a cursory look at last years stats says he was among the leaders in wins, save%, GAA (among guys that were bonafide starters anyhow)....not to mention 2 Stanley cup championships in recent times.
I think he deserves a LOT more credit than he receives.

He puts up great numbers playing behind the best team in the NHL. In my opinion the Hawks still win the cup with Darling in net, he's the one who got them through the first round. And that $6MM cap hit for the next few years for someone on the wrong side of 30 decreases his value exponentially. so while he does put up great numbers playing with the the best team in the NHL over the last 6 years, his value is small to none for a team like the flames who needs cap space 1/2 years down the road. Hence why Hiller and Ramo are both expiring following this season.
Also, Hiller is the active career leader in SV%, but I don't think anyone would describe him as anything other than an average starter in this league. Cups are irrelevant when evaluating players IMO.

I think they might with the right offer, he's 3 years away from UFA which seems like a long time but to get the best value he would probably need to be moved this season or next off-season

He's behind probably the best D core in the league, even Hiller could put up numbers like that in Chicago

By that logic you can say the same thing about any of the "Elite" goalies aside from maybe Price as those Elite goalies' teams have top D-corps or stifling defensive systems.

Well, Sharp got traded but they got Trevor Daley, Still muddies the Oduya re-signing I think.

Yeah with Daley now I can't see Oduya r-esigning, similar players but Daley is better.

Absolutely. Team defense most certainly has a huge effect on a goalie's ability to hit individual stats, and subsequently affects how fans/media view that goalie's abilities.
It's not unreasonable at all to suggest Crawford's success could be in large part due to playing on literally the best NHL franchise. Only thing is, we haven't seen Crawford on other teams, so we don't know for sure. Maybe you put him on Arizona and he starts winning them games they weren't winning last year and make the playoffs?
Just purely anecdotal from watching him a lot, but he seems to be a goalie that benefits at least a little bit from that incredible line-up. I see holes in his game that I think would lead to critical goals against on a weaker line-up. But I'm just a fan, so I could be way off.

No he isn't. He is behind one of the very best individual players in the game....but in no way as a collection were they the best in the game at any point. There is a reason only 4 played the last series for the most part.

Fallout from sharp trade? From Brian Hedger of NHL.com
If #Blackhawks don't sign Oduya, because of Daley, look for Oduya to maybe sign in Dallas. Was looking there before waiting for CHI offer

I am not sure if it was mentioned, but Viktor Fasth signed in Moscow. Another victim of the goalie graveyard in Edmonton.

Minor deal.
@mirtle: Leafs trade Devane to Nashville for Taylor Beck.
@mirtle: Leafs adding Beck should activate the second buyout window for Toronto, too. Not that I think they're buying anyone out...
@mirtle: But Leafs could now trade for a bad contract + an asset and buy the deal out for another team. In theory. Lot of candidates out there.

^ believe that is wrong. You cannot buyout a contract in the second buyout window unless the player was on your reserve list as of the previous trade deadline.
In otherwords the Leafs can't trade for someone to buy them out.

Well looks like the Koystitsin brothers' interest in returning to the NHL was exaggerated.
Both signed with the same team in the KHL.

Mark Lazerus @MarkLazerus
Johnny Oduya has ruled out the #Blackhawks, per his agent. He'll become the sixth player who played in Game 6 of the Final to leave.
Andy Strickland @andystrickland
Johnny Oduya already turned down a 3 yr, $15 million offer from #Sabres several days ago. No doubt Buffalo in position to offer most money.
Brian Hedger @BrianHedger
His agent says his new team will announce it today. (this was in response to a question as to when the new team will be revealed)
Arthur Staple @StapeNewsday
No Johnny Oduya for #Isles, I'm hearing. Don't think they're looking to add an older D on a multiyear deal.
Hmmmm, Kylington is on vacation with Johnny. In all seriousness, seems Dallas and Buffalo are bidding hard based on the Twitter people in the know.

would LOVE him on the Flames but it just wouldn't work without shipping someone out. I think he'd be a great mentor to have around but I guess we really don't need him that bad since our D is already stacked.

I wouldn't have minded getting him signed. But if the AAV is going to be in the $5M range, then no thank you.

Turned down 5 million a year? I definitely wouldn't want to pay him that kind of money. If Sabres are willing go give Oduya 5 might as well throw 6 million at Franson.
