I just, in consecutive games, outshot the comp 50+ shots to 20. I scored 1 goal. They won 5-1.

What a joke.

NFL and NHL video games have really suffered from the EA effect. Their games have been reduced to cash grabs recycling the same games over and over with nothing added but minor tweaks that make the games sometimes better or worse than their predecessors.

Apparently Johnny Gaudreau is quite the aggressor. In the ten or so games I've played, he's picked fights a few times already usually with some big guys

So I re-did the draft with pretty much the same result. This time only 2 goalies with my first 3 picks. Goalies picked with 2 and 6 had elite potential. The rest of the picks were used to RW's. I looked at my organizational depth chart and those were the two positions I was lacking in. So I think the AI just chooses based on organizational need. I simmed through the next season and draft and the AI chose a bunch of C and D. No goalies or RW's.

i'm definitely not as good as ice at the game......switched to all-star and even though i outshoot , CPU gets into high scoring areas and pound it in pretty much all the time. usually end up giving up 5 goals or more

hmmm.... i thought the game play has been relatively fine.

the way you play d, is excessively based on just ensuring your guy is always between the puck and the net. doing so, and trying to keep ur stick in the way (using a poke check) ensures that even if a cross ice pass makes it thru, the recipient won't be able to connect on a 1 timer.

I can't hit anyone, so have quite trying and just play uber conservatively. which is boring to an extent, but less frustrating than having a guy lined up but him slipping by, and now on an odd man rush.

I'm already starting to shy away from online. Everyone seems to be using the one touch dekes and puck protect to avoid being checked either using body/poke check. Why can't people play the game realistically .

You are too humble stamp, lol. All of my games have been high scoring with even the losing team still scoring 3, 4 or even 5 goals (lost to TB 6 to 5 in OT). I spanked Vancouver 5 to 1 but then the Blues killed me 7 to 3 the very next game and I've yet been able to get a shutout. Whenever the cpu is entering my zone, i try to not select being either of my D but rather a forward and park myself in the slot to deflect the eventual cross crease pass or to poke check the cpu if they dangle out in front of my net. To chase them in your own zone for a hit is death.

I feel with the addition of the quick deke plus right use of the vision button OR now being able to really dump the puck in and have your cpu teammates chase it down after setting up line strategy, the game is so much fun to play. I'm even able to actually set up the PP with my D being able to pass to each other at the point so Gio can let go of a bomb for the goal or a tip, its so awesome and im sorry some haven't enjoyed it as much but my suggestion is to stick with it because the pay off is worth it if you do eventually start enjoying the game play.

How irritating is it to not be able to edit and permanently set your strategies (rhetorical)? I have to do it before every game.

Also, can anyone figure out the sliders on the strategy screen? In previous years you would slide it to one extreme or the other (Carry vs Dump), but now it's all jumbled up. Is it incremental or still on a scale? For example, if I want my line to carry the puck in do I slide it all the way to the right or to the left towards the 'Carry' indicator?

i'll try that a bit more. i haven't had trouble laying down the hits, don't really like the camera angles available either which makes it tougher

I'm not a fan of the available camera angles either but so far Overhead has worked the best for me by default.

To be honest after the first four games of my Be a GM season, i did end up lowering the cpu's shot accuracy & shot power down one notch each

I agree it is extremely annoying to have to set it up before each game. The slider question is a good one because to be completely honest, I'm still not 100% sure. I've tried both ways but i believe if you want the line to Carry/Cycle the puck you slide it more to the left (toward the zero) and if you want the line to Dump/Shoot the puck you go more to the right (toward the ten). Again, that's what I've been doing after experimenting with it for a few games so i could be totally wrong although its been working for me after deciding that's how it should be set.

The sliders do nothing. I've now played 30 games with various sliders. You can nerf the CPU on pro sim to all zeroes and the game play changes not at all.

Played a few more games last night in be a gm mode. The new physics provide so much more variety in how goals happen, its no longer the same 3 types of goals you'd see last gen. I really dig the variety of plays you end up seeing due to puck bounces or even collisions. They definitely got some things right on the ice in this game.

I also like that if I don't play positonally and try to run around making big hits, it ends up costing me. I have to be more structured in my defensive play.

So far this sucky game (and it does suck in many ways) is keeping me coming back more than any of the last few efforts.

The biggest problem is it just feels unfinished.

Oh, and just to re-iterate, the commentary is insultingly bad, its actually hard to listen to at times. "Recoiling"? "waffleboarding"? WTF?

Thanks. That's how I've been interpreting it as well. I played around with it a bit, but it really didn't seem to make much of a difference.

Maybe I'm being too harsh with my first impressions, but as of right now I'm not very enthused.

soo.... i edit the rosters of all the teams and save it as the active roster. i then log into be a gm, and there's no way to pick which roster version to enter the mode with. naturally, it isn't possible to pick the active version as the version for be a gm.

anyone have any ideas??

I swear to you all that I'm not trying to be unapologetic to this game or EA as i still believe they royally screwed us with this product overall but at the same time if I'm having fun with it, then I'm going to admit it.

Anyway i just wanted to share that I was able to edit the Flames and Adirondack rosters plus place some of the recently invited players on PTO's on their respective teams, save the file and then immediately created my Be a GM mode and it used the roster file i had just created.
