Not only was it the centrepiece of the home, in my house you weren't allowed to play records on it. Well mine or my sister's records. Dad he could play all he wanted. We were stuck using the ####ty portable one we had.
I still remember blasting the the #### out of Who Made Who while my parents were out. They came home early...........my evening came to a halt.

Curious what you ended up getting? I've been looking to update my turntable as well.

Pro-Ject Debut III - it was listed at $569 at London Drugs, when they scanned the code it came up as $399. Not advertised in their flyer or anything. I'm not asking too many questions.

London Drugs seems to be good at that. I remember once hemming and hawing over two different types of electric toothbrushes. I literally spent 20 minutes in the aisle racking my brain trying to decide whether it makes sense to spend $40 more for the one with more features. After finally deciding on the better one, I went to the till, and they charged me the same amount as the lesser model. Didn't ask questions either.
Enjoy the new turntable!

Delivery services
got an item from Apple store delivered to our house for an extra $13 yesterday in under 2 hours - I probably would have spent more in gas and had to deal with the crowds at the mall

This grandparent thing is pretty cool. We have him for the day. We painted Xmas ornaments, we shopped for Xmas presents from him for his mom & my son, we chowed down at McDonald's and in case you were wondering, "I'm not tired Lolli" - we will decorate Xmas cookies when he wakes up & if time permits, we'll go down to the Festival of Lights this evening, after supper. It's a happy day.

I took my kid skating today on the lake. First time ever on skates. That alone made me happy.
The fact she loved it and kept trying to get better each time after falling made me so damn proud and happy.
Pretty sure I just peaked as a human being.

Awesome, I miss these days. Make sure you treasure then and video her efforts.
Now mine just mock me when we skate together.

I found this sweater in a thrift store in Nanton. I can't remember if this was from 86 or 89 but I remember buying a similar sweater back then. Brought back some good memories of Lanny and those 2 Cup runs. And how the city wanted the Flames to win it for Lanny.

Took the kids to visit my Dad. He's a crusty old fart but when he's with them he forgets his troubles is happy like he has no care in the world. My girl just randomly ran over and gave him a big hug. Such a nice evening.

Just finished listening to The Shepherd on CBC Radio. I really couldn't care less about any other holiday activities, but I insist on having that half hour on Christmas Eve. Turn on the radio, shut off the lights, pour a whisky and soak it up.

My heated garage. I like this weather because the salt doesn't melt the snow. Today I cleaned my car and did a bang up job on the wheels. I took it home and it dried off in the warm garage. Now I can cruise around looking and feeling like a million bucks in a pristine car for as long as this cold snap lasts. Love that.

This is more of a 'what really makes me relieved'. But after the gear grinder post yesterday, today relatively makes me happy.
In my infinite laziness yesterday, I only tried to remote start the car. Didn't work. Today I actually went out and sat in the car and hit the push-to-start button. And it worked! I let it warm up for a few mins and then drove it to the gas station to fill air. The only issue was that the steering felt heavy. I guess it's because the block heater wasn't plugged in and that may have solidified some of the fluids. After 10 mins of driving, the steering didn't seem as bad. I likely will still plug the block heater into an inside outlet (to avoid tripping the GFCI switch) for 4 hours before heading out to drive anywhere.

You should have started with that! For some reason on all the vehicles I've had it on, if remote start doesn't work, you can sit in the vehicle and have a much better chance. Not sure why, but it isn't uncommon. Below -20 I don't even bother trying the remote button if it wasn't plugged in.
A block heater isn't going to warm up the power steering fluid, so be gentle until it warms up.
