Lafreniere and Huberdeau actually don't seem that different, Huberdeau didn't light the word on fire early in his career either.
I wouldn't mind taking a flyer on Lafreniere at all...but think they would probably want too much for him

I like Kakko too. I get Bennett vibes, like he could be a solid second liner on another team.
Would the Rags have any interest in Toffoli retained?? Might allow them to re-sign Kane/Tarasenko

Lindholm for Kakko and Lafraniere. Make the same gamble they did on the Hamilton trade

Highly interested in Laf. I disagree with Sandman- though he's not a speedster at all, I think it's the Rags style of play that hampers him most rather than a lack of speed. In fact I think he shows some good short burst speed to separate from defenders, and scored a couple notable goals in transition this year doing exactly that. Important to note that most of his points are 5v5 points, too.
The rumor out there is that the Rags are looking for stable RW help. Tarasenko and Kane did not produce as hoped.
Toffoli? Toffoli for Laf as a base? That is super duper appealing to me.

You aren’t getting both for Lindy.
Lindholm’s final season in Carolina (believe he was 22 years old): 16G, 28A, 44 PTS
Lafreniere (21 years old): 16G, 23A, 39 PTS
Kakko (22 years old): 18G, 22A, 40 PTS
I’d absolutely target either of those guys though if available.

I would also explore if there's any market for Coleman out there. We don't talk about him much, but if we're not going to be a playoff contender I see his use to the franchise diminished.
My order for trade out priority:
Toffoli
Tanev
Coleman
Shop Lindy around but don't bite unless the offer blows you away.
Trade those three at draft and we can stock up while leaving some good spots open in the top 9 for prospects or newcomers.

What does Laf get on his RFA deal? And is NYR willing to turn a 21 year old 1OA into Tyler Toffoli?

Here's a goal from this year, against us, where his straight line speed is on display. I definitely wouldn't say it's deficient. He's no burner but I don't think you can argue he's not fast enough on ice to be an NHL player.
Agility is an interesting question- is his fast burst speed up to snuff? Perhaps not, but I think that's addressable through training.

Meh, I think they're already departed from thinking of Laf as a 1st, hence the rumors of his trade being out there at all. So divorce the question from his draft status, it's still a fair question:
Would the rangers turn a 21 yo with potential high upside and <.5 ppg stats for a team's leading point forward, a regular 30 goal+ pace scorer and leader in the league, and known playoff performer, signed for another season at sub 5mil?
I think the answer to that is maybe. Perhaps we have a small add or other pieces are involved to create more balance. Maybe they'd be interested in Vladar.

As for trading Kadri, it never ceases to amaze me how willing fans are to dump guys for pennies on the dollar after a bad season - show some patience, FFS.

LOL! no, that's funny though. The player must have lapsed to the next highlight when I grabbed the link. here is the one i was talking about :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bIrSrKdAcGY
This youtube clip of it isnt as good as the OG actually, as it shows Lafreniere starting this dash after collecting the puck beside his own goal after a Kadri shot. So he beats kadri back pretty clean.

I didn't see much speed there. He was skating in on Zadorov, arguably our slowest defender. Liked the dish and the follow up though.

I highly doubt Lindholm is going anywhere. The Flames would be selling low and who are getting to replace him? I think his whole "one more year comment" was directly tied to Sutter, I think now that he is gone he will be open to an extension, one the Flames will prioritize. That is a huge hole if he leaves, I don't see it.

I don't think anyone should be untouchable from the main roster last season, with maybe the exception of Andersson.
I would definitely see what the market in on Backlund though. He had a career year, but likely doesn't have too many more years left in the league. A team that thinks they on the cusp of a championship may overpay for a two-way veteran center, especially if the Flames retained salary.
Not that deals like this happen all the time, but I think back to when the Caps traded Forsberg as a prospect to the Preds for Erat. The over payed to get a gritty veteran with leadership qualities and it helped Nashville for years. I think that was a deadline deal, so a little different, but still, it couldn't hurt to float Backlund's name out there to see what's possible.

Definitely interesting. NYR are probably going to lose Tarasenko, but Kane would sign a sunset contract there. They are deep in 'win now'. Toffoli at 50% would probably peake their interest. From a Calgary perspective, would you then bridge Laf, or go for a Kotekiemi style long term, under 5, hoping for a delayed emergence?

Yeah, the full clip is better. He beats Kadri and whoever the other forward is too. Him and Kadri essentially start at the same point.
You could watch it and attack the laziness of Kadri, but I chose to focus on Laf's speed as well. Again, not thinking he's a speed demon, but I don't think you can say he's too slow.
Edit: mangiapane was the other forward

You absolutely have to trade Lindholm in the summer if he hasn't resigned. You can't risk him walking away for nothing, and you can't risk an injury that would make him untradeable at the deadline.

Okay, you lost me at "beat Kadri". EVERYBODY beat Kadri last year.
