The refs handed the Browns a free TD earlier in the game (Edwards should've been done by contact, but he got up and ran for a TD) so the reffing evened itself out.

I wouldnt go that far. Despite the hair-pulling loss(how in hell am I supposed to focus on finishing an entire essay after that garbage??), theyre still in the hunt for a Wild Card spot, but it definitely put them behind in the race.

That said, what an absolute joke of a call that was. I love Payton but he has a bad rep for getting way too cute with the ball, case in point. He's easily this week's Herman Edwards, only it was even dumber. F***!!!!!!!!!

Ugh.
I was disappointed with my picks today until I saw yours, Dis. Ouch.

O.K. Maybe not season over, playing 3-9 Atlanta, 6-6 Arizona, 5-7 Philly, @ 5-7 Chicago. They can still somewhat control their own destiny, but Minnesota is looking tough, as well as Arizona. Both are ahead of New Orleans at 6-6.

Oh ya no question. Had the Saints won, they'd currently be tied for the final playoff spot, and have the tiebreaker over all the other 6-6 teams. But now they basically need to win out, AND get some help from other teams(reminds me of '04). I'm so steamed that I can't even focus on the essay I have due tomorrow right now, I may need to take a walk. Worst call ever!!!

This is a terrible day for refs. Even with replay they're making the wrong calls.
2 bad calls in the pittsburgh game already.

Payton should catch a public flogging for that call, and Reggie Bush needs to worry about football and executing plays rather than getting his face in another commercial. Nevertheless the Saints are pretenders this year, the defence is a joke, gave up almost 500 yards to a 3rd stringer.

I saw the replay and thought that too. But who's to say Cleveland doens't score on that drive anyways. The call at the end of the game....theres no hope after that to make it up. Moot point anyways in the end, Browns turned the ball over too much and were playing from behind all game. If they can stop the run on that last drive they have a better shot to win. Odd how the Cardinals can beat good AFC teams like the Steelers and Browns, but lose twice to San Francisco.

Not expecting much from MNF this week, the Pats actually had something to work on this week which means the Ravens get a fired up Patriots team at home against Kyle Boller. This could get really ugly for the Ravens offense.

Next few weeks we'll get to see just how good the Steelers are. On the road against the Patriots and then at home to the Jaguars.

I just love(see: hate) how out of the 8 defensive players we picked up in FA and the draft this offseason, only ONE is starting...and that one has probably been the worst player on our D(Jason David). One of the problems of the 2007 Saints IMO was Payton's absolute inability to do anything in the offseason to address this team's needs.

That 2007 Draft was a joke. I know players can't be labelled busts after only one season, but the fact it didn't produce a single starter on a team with quite a few glaring holes is ridiculous. I think Payton may have been a little too confident in himself after scoring some shockers in last year's draft coming from mid-American small schools and mid-majors in Jahri Evans, and Marques Colston(and to a lesser extent Zach Strief). Because of this, he thought he could just do it again with similar results, and picked up Usama Young, Andy Alleman, Jermon Bushrod and David Jones, all from small schools. I like the potential in Young, but overall this strategy looks to have blown up in his face.

This is by no means a "fire Payton" post, I think any mention of that is absolutely ridiculous at this point, and I still have alot of confidence in him. I just think he needs to quit out-thinking himself on and off the field in the future, and go with the obvious plays(and players) when it is clearly the right decision to do so.

Except, CLE would have scored soon after that anyway. Edwards was already near the red zone.

CLE killed themselves with penalties. 9/10 I think they beat that ARI team.

Thanks to the Jags players for reminding me how Indy won yesterday, coming out with there thoughts that it was all Bill Polians work and that may have included paying off the refs

I don't know that they will beat the Pats...they have as good a chance as anyone though. The Jaguars though? No chance in Pittsburgh. Stone Cold Lock of that weekend!

Especially an Arizona team missing two of the better receivers in the game in Boldin and Fitzgerald. Sloppy play from Cleveland combined with an atrocious non-call to end the game did the Browns in, unfortunately.

The ball would've been around the 30 - hardly an easy TD. Even if they do score a TD, they likely kill all the time they had remaining for the last minute drive.

I could easily mention the terrible call on the INT at the end of the first half too with the Cards in Browns territory.

Oh yeah, there's Winslow's hold too:

Woah, dudes... Anyone else tripped out by the start to this game? Bal has already taken 5 penalties and yet they're maintaining momentum. PAts unsucessful with a 1st and goal, and now Bal has the lead........

Say it ain't so... I have faith. NE 19-0

The Ravens O-line is just unreal. Theyre simply running the ball down the Pats throat. Boller hasnt thrown a ball in about 10 minutes.
