Win or lose, Leylah is playing some fantastic tennis today. Lost the first set in a tie-break, won set 2 just now in a tie-break.

3rd set tie-break to decide this match between Leylah and Elena.
Edit: Wow...Leylah takes it 6-7 7-6 7-6 over Elena Rybakina after 3 hours and 12 minutes. This was 2021 US Open Leylah today.

Incredible win for Leylah.. I managed to cash in big taking her down a set and a break at +1050
When she is playing with confidence she is very hard to deal with. A rematch against Raducanu in the final would be something!

It's a darn good question - I still don't like her service motion, but would you be surprised to learn that she's leading the tourney in aces hit this week? Her serve was putting so much pressure on the rest of her game which erodes confidence. When she's serving well, the rest of her game seems to follow.

That last game is Exhibit 'A' - In the past 12 months or so, Leylah would have likely tossed in a double fault and been broken. She's finding the service box and holding serve this week when the pressure is on.

Match point, and unfortunately yet again, Bianca down with an ankle injury.
What could've been for her career if it wasn't for her body just not being able to hold up.

That was kind of bizarre. She rolled her ankle but kind of melted down assuming the worst right away.

An 18 year old already having haters is nuts. I know tennis media drums up the hype and his Brazilian cheering section can get boisterous, but the list of 18 year old ATP players that met or exceeded their hype is...Alcaraz and Nadal?

When it comes to tennis fans they love young players until they don't like that old Linkin Park song Burn it Down;
Quote:
We're building it up to break it back down
We're building it up to burn it down
We can't wait to burn it to the ground

Liam Draxl takes the opening set 6-2 over PCB
Edit: PCB takes set 2 6-4 and Liam is experiencing some right shoulder issues.

Just too many errors from Liam in the end combined with a wonky shoulder as PCB takes the match 2-6 6-4 6-4. Better news in Montreal as Genie Bouchard won her opening round match in three sets over Emiliana Arango.
