If they waived both Ryan and Janmark they’d still be over the cap. That’s factoring in Klefbom as well. That would leave them with a 20 player roster. No good.

just think if they didn't ink Nurse to 9.25 prematurely after the 7 team season and actually negotiated with him over the last year instead . I suppose then they wouldn't be the Oilers!

Just going on the simplest thing,

Right now, the Oilers are rated at 7579333 over the cap, if you account for Smith (2,200,000) and Klefbom (4,167,000) total 6,367,000

So they're showing at $1,212,333 over

So they wouldn't have to really waive both Janmark and Ryan, they could wave one go with 11 forwards, and 8 defensemen currently showing and be cap compliant.

But the smarter move would be to send down someone like Boberg and Ryan.

Go with 12 forwards and 8 defensemen and pray for no injuries.

But capology ain't my strong suite.

Man for a team that's over the cap, I wouldn't feel great about who's on the cap.

I think Broberg gets sent down. That will save them more cap but also eliminates any upside he has at least to start the year.

Even with this they will be over the cap. It will be interesting to see who sits out early to buy some time for a move
