Sanchez hits a grand slam in the 8th and the Yankees are poised to take both halves of a double header in extra innings.

Sounds like the Jays are in talks with the Rangers for Mike Minor. Also the Rangers are trying to get someone to take Odor off their hands.
Minor is a free agent at the end of the, but is 0-5 with a 5.60 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP. He was pretty good the two years prior.
Hopefully we stay clear of Odor.
Maybe we could grab Todd Frazier from the Rangers as well. He is a small upgrade on Shaw, but I don't think they are swinging for the fences looking for trades.

Haven't followed Odor in recent years. I know his defence has always been suspect, and I hate him from his Bautista battle, but has he really fallen off the map that badly?

From Mlbtraderumors
Having already acquired Taijuan Walker, the Blue Jays continue to look for additional upgrades as they pursue a playoff berth. Toronto’s targets include Rangers southpaw Mike Minor, according to Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News (Twitter link), as well as Angels outfielder Brian Goodwin, Sportsnet.ca’s Shi Davidi reports.
Minor is perhaps the closest of the two names to becoming a reality, as Grant describes the Jays and Rangers as “actively engaged” in negotiations. Minor would be a pure rental pickup for Toronto since he is a free agent after the season, and he is owed roughly $1.61MM remaining of his prorated $9.5MM salary for the 2020 season. While Minor has a 10-team no-trade clause in the first two seasons of his three-year, $28MM deal with Texas, Grant reports that the clause is no longer in place for this, the final year of Minor’s contract.

In 89 plate appearances he has a .189OBP. He did hit 30HR last year. He is a guy who either strikes out or hits a home run and there isn't much in between. Add in his terrible defense, and yeah he has fallen off pretty bad.

Yeah, I have no idea why the Jays would want to take Odor. Maybe it would get them a massive discount on the acquisition cost of someone else?
Unless they think they can fix him somehow? It feels like Odor has been around forever, but he's still just 26 and the Jays look like they've maybe turned 27 year old Teo and 28 year old Grichuk into actual decent hitters, and both were also guys who had toms of power but struck out too much and couldn't get on base enough.

Yeah, I want no part of Stinky unless we can flip Tellez or Vogelbach straight across for him as they are similar hitters, with Odor making a bunch of money over the next couple years. Then hopefully Dante Bichette can work his magic on him too.

Tweet from Ken Rosenthal:
"Blue Jays talking to Marlins about Jonathan Villar, sources tell The Athletic. Unclear where discussions stand. Angels’ Andrelton Simmons not currently an option for Jays."
Tweet from Bob Nightengale:
"Two teams who have been involved in the Mike Clevinger sweepstakes say they're now out, but when pressed, say they simply won't raise their last offer. The leading candidates to land him: #Padres, #WhiteSox, #BlueJays, #Yankees."

Villar to the Jays is like a wet dream for me. The guy can play anywhere, even though he isn't an elite defensive player, he does get on base and can run roughshod on the base paths. Having a serious stolen base threat would be amazing to add. With him being a switch hitter and able to play everything but 1B and C, his and Biggio's flexibility would allow for a ton of options for us.

Tweet from Jon Heyman:
"Jays don’t seem to be heavily involved on Clevinger at this point, narrowing the field. Padres, Braves, maybe White Sox among teams thought in. Hard to see Clevinger staying at this point."
Well dang. Probably for the best, I am guessing the price is high for Clevinger.

I’m happy the Jays didn’t overpay for Clevinger.
He’s supposedly really disliked in the Locker room, has had injury issues, and really is going to be a free agent before this teams real window to win opens up.

That's a lot of prospect capital spent. The Padres are spending like drunken sailors and driving up the prices pretty hard it would seem. Have to assume it would have cost the Jays even more being in the AL.
I would have loved to add a pitcher like Clevinger, but I'm glad the Jays didn't cave to those prices. Especially in these uncertain times.

I'm ok with not getting Clevinger. The team can't overpay with their prospect pool at this stage in their development. Clevinger showed a lot about his commitment to his previous team and I'm not sure I'd want him around.
