It did for sure. There was a zoomed in view from behind Cedric that showed the ball deflection very clearly.

Still a lot to go for all that side of the bracket to play out as you have spread out.

If you have to zoom in to see it, to me that doesn’t make it “very clearly”.

Even if the hand contact is there, that’s still not a PK. His arm wasn’t flailing about, he certainly had no idea where the ball was when the supposed contact took place.

It was a tough penalty to give on VAR.

I am officially a hardcore football fan now, I booked tomorrow off work so I can stay up late tonight. I've only ever taken time off work for Flames playoffs or Super Bowls.

Also, for those complaining about the watering down of the Cup when it goes to 48 teams in 2026, I just learned the 2019 Asian Cup is expanding to 24 teams! I sure can't wait to see the epic match ups of Lebanon vs North Korea, India vs Bahrain, and Vietnam vs Yemen.

I don't care what happens from here on in really, as long as Belgium and Spain are on opposite ends of the bracket.

Dammit after such a good start. Looked like it might have been offside. The Aussies need to go for it now.

Hey hey. Bahrain almost made it to the 2006 and 2010 World Cup. They lost to Trinidad and Tobago and New Zealand respectively in the playoffs

France-Denmark looking likely to be our first 0-0 game, although wouldn't be shocked to see France tank in the second half to get into the easier half of the draw. Also wouldn't be shocked to see Denmark out tank them.

The Aussies are not capitalising on their chances and France vs Denmark is headed to a nil nil draw. I should have expected this.

This World Cup is set to smash the record for Penalties in a tournament, the prior record was 18 and we've already had 20 and we're not even done the group stage yet.

And that's that for the Aussies. Peru likely ruing that penalty miss against Denmark, would probably be going through had they made it.

I would rather play argentina or nigeria than Croatia. These guys are scary.

Danes certainly aren't tanking this second half. They seem much more dangerous although still playing conservative.

Ends up being a very competitive group.

Eh, I can't call a group that competitive when the two teams who will advance are playing the worst game of the tournament by far since they're both safely through. Nothing is coming close to Group B for competitiveness and drama.

Group F? 3 teams still all with a chance of going through and top spot still up for grabs.
