2017/2018 Trade Speculation and Rumors
Sounds like Williams has made his decision or is close, per Lebrun
Pierre Lebrun @PierreVLebrun
I could be wrong but I think Williams has already made his decision or is very darn close...
Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger
Patrick Marleau is sitting on a 2 yr offer from the Sharks. He's going through the process with his family, considering multiple options.

Someone said Gulutzan wants a right handed centre or a bottom 6 right wing.
That doesn't seem to make a lot of sense. They have Chiasson, and he's borderline as it is.
They need a skilled winger, not yet another checking one.

Where is there any confirmation or indication Chiasson will be back?

Sounds like Carolina, or maybe even Florida.

Correction* They may not even re-sign Chiasson, and he's already the bottom 6 RW that Gulutzan speaks of.
I don't see the point of overpaying another bottom 6 RW that is not Chiasson

I don't see the point of bringing back Chiasson. Would rather give his spot to a youngster. Let Alex walk. This team does not need him.

If Marleau and Williams are out... please don't let this cap clearing be about Shane Doan.

McIlrath on the 3RD/popcorn box spot could be a good pickup
if the Flames want to add toughness I'd go for either him or Iggy

Doubt Treliving is interested in overpaying either. He just bought out a 2.2 million 4th liner. Didn't qualify Chiasson cause he was worried he'd be overpaid. And signed a 2nd/3rd liner in Versteeg for under 2 million. I mean all signs point to Treliving being very concerned about not overpaying for 4th liners.
The man has earned my trust with his work as GM. I eagerly await his next move in free agency. I expect #5 dman is the biggest priority at the moment.
Stone. Alzner. Girardi. Cowan. McIlhrath. There's still guys in VGK that could be moved like Emelin. Any other names worth pondering people?

Blue Jackets make an offer for Duchene.
NHL insider Scott Cullen. NHL insider Darren Dreger. CBJ beat writer Aaron Portzline reporting the CBJ have offered Ryan Murray and a least Boone Jenner....
While Sakic is busy with Duchene, hopefully we overload Sakic's brain and grab Landeskog

Murray and Jenner? I think that's fair value from CBJ

My question Par, what would you give up to acquire Landeskog? As I see it we are deep on LW and lefties in general. Yes it would be great to add a 24 year old like Landeskog, but what would you give up?

Some fans on Hf are saying that is a fair offer and some saying that is too much for Duchene.

Spoke with someone in the extended family of Marleau today and they said San Jose is his #1 choice with Anaheim and LA the other two high on his list. He doesn't want to uproot the family from California and wants to stay in California for his family/wife's career.
Also, they said that if Marleau re-signs on that 2 year deal with the Sharks, that Thornton will sign a minute later. Thornton wants to stay in San Jose as well and it's a no brainer if Marleau re-signs. Thornton/Marleau have been deciding together on what to do (Thornton is waiting for Marleau).
