8.5 could be negotiation tactic to end up at 8 if the flames are insisting on 7.5m

I highly doubt the Flames have come up to 7.5m at this point.
They probably have offered him 7m

I'm not sure I understand your points. You said you believe that the agent is telling the truth that Brad Treliving cut off contact a month ago, then you said you don't believe either of them? Which is it?

Also, what has Brad Treliving done that would make us as fans lose trust and not believe what he's saying?

Also, who seriously believes that Treliving would just stop negotiating for his best forward? It's Brad freakin' Treliving. The guy notorious for talking to agents and other GM's almost too much

One guy is coming off supremely amateurish in all of this, and it isn't Brad...

I don't believe anyone of them period. This is the worst case of negotiations in the 36 years I have been a fan. There have been several difficult negotiating over the years with difficult agents. There have been hold outs but this crap of not even talking to this extent is inexcusable.

Asking for 8.5 after unsuccessfully asking for 8 wouldn't be a negotiating tactic. It would be stupid

This seems like exactly the sort of emotion that belongs nowhere near a $50M+ negotiation...

There have been much worse negotiations in Flames history. Risebrough and Gilmour for example.

Seriously, you are just posting out of anger without making any sense. "I don't believe anyone of them period", but "this crap of not even talking to this extent is inexcusable". You obviously believe Grossman, and you are contradicting yourself within the same post here.

Seriously, chill out. You don't have to call other people names here. I can't honestly remember the last time you had a post that was calm and didn't sound like what you have been sounding like. No need to get all worked up over a long contract dispute to come on here and post so full of spite.

Your obvious and inexplicable axe-to-grind with Brad Treliving strikes again, and completely nullifies the quality of your posts.

Flames can't continue rebuild until Johnny Gaudreau realizes his demands are out of reach

Quote:
First, his absence when the bullets start flying for real could play a huge role in the type of slow start that cost the Flames any chance it may have had of making the playoffs last year.

He’s that important to the team.

While his agent will certainly see that as leverage for his client, it’s not the sort of rap Gaudreau wants as he tries to continue forging a long-term relationship with the city and organization that has handed him the keys — keys to anything but the vault, that is.

Second, the Flames are still hoping to add organizational depth — likely in the form of unsigned defenceman Kris Russell for example — which can’t happen until the club knows how much room it has left to spend.

Just as Mark Giordano did for the betterment of the team, Gaudreau needs to be more reasonable with his salary if the team is going to continue its rebuild, in part, around him.
Quote:
Jacob Trouba scared plenty of Calgarians on Sept. 24 when he asked for a trade following a summer of failed contract talks. However, his reasons revolved largely around the difference of opinion in where he was in the pecking order.

Not the case in Calgary.

Yes, Gaudreau is a dynamic-enough talent to command more than the $6.375 million Sean Monahan got this summer. But not much more than the $6.75 million Giordano is paid — again, given his limited rights.

A big part of Gaudreau’s attraction to Calgary is linemate and friend Sean Monahan, who likely blew Gaudreau’s cover Sunday when he said he’d been in contact with his pal and expected he’d be signed really soon.

Within the week both sides need to compromise, so call it six years, $42 million and give the club a chance to start well.

There’s still plenty of time for Gaudreau to take charge and ensure there’s no collateral damage done to his reputation or the team by ending this game of chicken before the season-opening faceoff.

I'm sure this won't get anyone riled up. Kevin Paul DuPont is a pretty legitimate source in New England.
Someone should ask him to come on here and explain. He has posted on CP before and was the one who broke the news when Bertuzzi first signed with Calgary.

I think Gaudreau will play for us for a long time. I'd rather play on a good team with a bright future alongside people I've become good friends with instead of go play close to home on a bad team with strangers.

This isn't amateur hour, for the record I on a smaller scale I do this kind of stuff for a living so I see it as both sides have come up with a number and are trying their best to pound it. From what I can see here there is only one contract from the age group/points that anyone can compare.

Gaudreau camp:
We think Johnny has proven he a little bit better than Tarasenko and he got $7.5 million for 8 years

Flames camp:
We think Johnny is better than Tarasenko as well but we also see the Tarasenko contract as a bad one possibly consummated because he's a Russian player that could use the KHL as a scare tactic. We think this tactic cost St.Louis about $1 million

I think this is the standstill, I personally think the $8 million rumor is complete BS, Flames would like something around $6.8 and Gaudreau's camp about $7.3. Personally, I think it'll be slightly closer to the Gaudreau camp.

7 years $50 million, book it.

Someone asked him about the Gaudreau to Philly or Boston...

Jon Lyons @TheRealJonLyons
@GlobeKPD as in when his contract is up or in the near future via trade?

If true, this ain't good. Problem is, it's not up to Gaudreau where he would be traded, it's up to the Flames. In the end, it seems this guy is just looking for twitter likes, re-tweets and followers.

I don't understand. Who is Jon Lyons and what is "the Gaudreau to Philly or Boston..."

That sounds completely unsubstantiated and by someone who would have no inside knowledge. How does one find something like that and think "if that's true, that's no good"?

The paranoia associated with this is reaching new heights.

This has been asked a couple times now:

You keep saying you don't believe either side, and then continue to believe the one side's assertion they haven't been talking.

It's confusing and undermines your take.

Additionally, as was pointed out there have been negotiations much worse than this up to this point. This happened with Iginla and he was a much more established star at the time.
