Brodie has been really, really bad for 2 years, and you have his value close to the Hamilton trade value when the Flames got him.

If Griffin Reinhart can get a mid round first and a 2nd, anything is possible.

Who has more value in the eyes of GMs, Brodie or Hamonic? I realize it can be a question of individual team need but I guess I’m asking what’s more valuable:
Puck moving defenseman
Defensive defenseman
Both are LHS, same age and coming off down years. Why can’t Brodie net what Hamonic did
I don’t want Brodie traded, I just think people are underestimating his value around the league.

In the old NHL, finding a pick moving defenceman was tough to do. Now, it's hard to find a stay at home guy who can keep up. Hamonic is way more valuable, the Flames don't have anyone like him in the system and IMO Buzz Kylington and/or Fox will be better than Brodie.
IMO Brodie has more value to the Flames if he's on a different team next year.

I have no clue what Brodie's value is. I think he's a good second pairing guy, and the really really bad label you're giving him is unfair. I wouldn't part with him for anything less than that or a top 6 guy F of similar age.

If Sami Vatanen is worth Adam Henrique, then so is Brodie.
Other than their handedness, they are very similar players, of a similar age with similar cap hits. Same production, etc..
If you put Brodie on the market and can't get a legit 40-50 point C or even a W+ of a similar age to Brodie, or a 1st and two 2nd's, then just keep him and see if he can regain his form from pre-GG. No sense selling low on him for the sake of change.
Brodie for Bjugstad plus a mid pick
Brodie for Nino plus a mid pick
Brodie for Coyle plus a mid pick
Brodie + a young C for O'Reilly
Brodie for Gallagher
Brodie for Connor Brown plus 25th overall
Brodie for Kapanen plus 25th overall
Brodie for Sprong plus two 2nd's
If you can't get these type of returns for Brodie, then there is no point in trading him. Keep him and hope he rebounds to 40+ point form. It will give Valimaki. Kulak and Kylington more time to develop, and if he does rebound people will be kicking down your door trying to take him off your hands.

well thought out. You had me at Bjugstad, and then Kapanen.

These all sound pretty fair for a defenseman who:
- is 28 years old
- logs 20+ mins per game
- plays on the PP
- plays 3on3 overtime
- will score 30-45pts
- has 2 years remaining at $4.6mil per
Unless you are looking at it through disappointed flames fan tinted glasses.

I like all those proposals. Might have people disagree with this but I'd even want Montreal to add to Gallagher.

I would agree if Brodie was coming off one down year but it's been two years now, The only thing that make sense was Gulutzan insistence of the lefty/righty crap, hopefully Peters plays him RD, even if it's on the third pairing to start the season

Saw that Johnny Gaudreau liked an Instagram post suggesting the Flames have been linked to Kevin Hayes.

There is another good example.
Brodie for Hayes plus a 2nd, of which the Rangers have two.

I would do a Brodie/Hayes swap straight up and be very giddy about it.

Fans who have been disappointed because Brodie has been absolutely terrible for two seasons.
You can't ignore that fact in assessing trade value.

This isn’t remotely close to an accurate assessment.

I really hope this isn't Brad Treliving's secret CP account...
