While a Stormy circus is entertaining, not sure how much risk it puts the trial in. They were denied a mistrial even though the judge even admitted she was being difficult to control. Though the judge did point out he was expecting a lot more objections from Trump's team and would have sustained them (as he was already sustaining the ones they did make).

She and cohen are both the best and worst witnesses possible. They need to be up there and the salacious details are damning, but they aren’t particularly credible or likeable.

This judge is actively delaying the carriage of justice, she clearly doesn’t ever want to deal with this case. She’s in over her head and conflicted as well.

She isn't over her head, she is a well known Trump supporter and has shown that time and again. I expect Jack Smith will now start the process of having her removed from this trial.

I think she is. She has this backlog of eight substantive pending motions she has yet to decide. Further to that her rulings have been questioned with comments of she doesn't know what she's doing.

Professor Bennett Gershman, a law professor at Pace University, also told Newsweek that as it stands now any effort by Smith to have her disqualified "will almost certainly fail."

"Despite her bizarre rulings and delaying tactics, there is no clear evidence that she is biased against the government or has manifested an appearance of bias," Gershman said.

"There is really nothing in her conduct thus far that suggests she is not trying to be a diligent and careful jurist, however poorly she has comported herself in the bench."

Yeah he's probably closer to 60/40 to win. He only needs to flip a few hundred thousand votes in a couple of states to win, which shouldn't be too hard given Biden's numbers. Still lots of time for him to #### it up, like picking the puppy killer to be his VP, but he's a meaningful favorite right now.

I was always told the economy was such a big deal breaker in elections.

But to have such different track records in that regard and still have it be such a tight race, maybe even a Trump lead, I guess it really doesn't mean much of anything after all.

The perception of the economy right now is pretty terrible. The perception of the economy under Trump before COVID was pretty good.

Perception matters far more than reality, and there are a lot of real life problems with the current economy for a lot of people, and that's a big problem for Biden.

I'm of the opinion that the Biden administration and Federal Reserve have done a remarkable job of curbing inflation without sending the country into a recession, and whoever Trump had running the show would have been a disaster. Unfortunately most people don't see it that way at all.

“I think I once said to be fair to her she may merely be incompetent,” Cobb said. “But no, this is a combination of bias and incompetence.”

He added: “She has not honored the public’s interest for one day in this case.”

Cobb told CNN’s Erin Burnett that special counsel Jack Smith doesn’t have any recourse to have Cannon removed from the case based on the decisions so far, especially given that judges have wide latitude on issues such as scheduling.

But he predicted eventually one of her decisions will lead to her removal.

“I do think she is not capable of ruling intelligently or fairly on most of the motions that will be pending and certainly the classified information issues, and I think at some point she will be removed in advance of trial,” he said.

Even that came with a pretty big caveat.

“Keep in mind this case now can’t go to trial until mid-to-late 2025,” he said. “And it won’t go to trial if Trump is elected.”
