It aint happening because that would require Arsenal getting at least a point if City lose.

Thanks. Welcome to the perch when it comes to English titles. I could take the low road and say "talk to me when you have a full 11 titles on us" or "talk to me when you have an 11 title lead" but I won't. Liverpool haven't helped themselves here in 21 years. I hope your stay up there is short lived.

Oh, but we won it 5 times.

And I'm glad they NEEDED a getaway car.

Is that really a good retort though?

I'm not a United or a Liverpool fan (although I do like them more now with Torres/Rafa gone and Carroll/Suarez added) but to me having an 11 title lead and choking it away is even worse than just losing the title lead to United had it been a closer lead.

I personally have never had much use for things like that. Its nice that Liverpool have in the past won 18 titles, but really all that does is add history to the club, but those were so long ago, far too long ago to really be celebrated.

For me, sports is a strictly 'what have you done for me lately' proposition. So having won titles whenever they were won doesnt factor in much when you consider that United's success is current.

I tend to prefer to look at things on a season by season basis. The team cant control whether United win whatever it is they win, all they can control is their own performance and thats what you have to look at.

Anyways, really, United won the title, some supporters will make banners, that happens. I'm looking forward to next season and hopefully some success for my club.

Good post, I completely agree. I care about the current season and the upcoming season and that's it.

History is an important part of any club and can't be forgotten, but leave the bragging about number of past titles to Oilers and Canadiens fans (for example). Banter and banners in good fun are always good for a laugh, though.

Pretty well. I'm not going to be bragging about supporting a team because once upon a time they were good, that does no one any good right now.

I think that bragging about cups from even 5 years ago is silly, the entire team has mostly changed

I just loved the Utd fans doing it because of the banner at Anfield so long ago taunting them, and I would have loved the reverse as well

as a one time thing it was great

Except that if Blatter stays nothing changes and if someone new comes in you openly didnt vote for them.

It is likely that Bin Hammam is as crooked as Blatter. Aren't there concerns that he had some shady dealings with the Dubai WC bid? Plus any candidate that wins a plurality of votes in Africa - will have to be glad-handing national confederations as that is how business is done in the CAF.

Its actually somewhat sad because there are no other options. FIFA is just mired in corruption. Blatter is bad and Bin Hammam is likely just as bad.

This is likely going to be a case of 'Devil you know' or whichever of them promises to bribe you more.

Its also strange because $1.5M shouldnt be a lot of money to these men.

Was hoping that Lennart Johansson would have won the FIFA Presidency back in 1998. That's what you need, a good, honest Swede to run things.

Blatter is saying he may hold a re-vote for 2022 if he wins

how about just changing the system to every country getting a vote

you can't bribe everyone, sure there will be friendly games promised etc.

but with so many votes after its narrowed down to the 5 bids I think it would make a huge difference

if every country voted there is no way 2018 is in Russia or 2022 in Qatar

the Guardian released a story about the finances of Premier league teams for 2010, this site has all the numbers/tables in easy to read form

http://www.myfootballfacts.com/Premi...eFinances.html

*the one thing the guardian mentioned, Arsenal's turnover (income) includes the selling of Highbury flats which takes up a massive part of it. They would be way behind Utd without it
