Learner Tien just eliminated Andrey Rublev in straight sets 7-5 6-2 despite only 15 winners to 31 unforced errors. Rublev had 13 winners and 43 unforced errors.
Yikes.

Elena Rybakina just a little too good for Victoria Mboko tonight as she eliminates the Canadian 6-3 7-5. Really good showing for Victoria though aside from her serving as she had a total of 9 double faults tonight.

Looks like Rublev, Medvedev, Tsitsipas are starting to hit the back end gradual slides of their careers.

To the surprise of absolutely no one, Tsitsipas and Goran Ivanisevic have parted ways. Rumours swirling that he's going back to his dad coaching him.

He's changed coaches, racquets, etc but the common denominator is that he's simply on the decline and his one handed backhand can no longer fend off the younger generation of ball bashers.

The crazy thing is there was a lot of flak for tournament organizers giving Venus a wild card for this tourney and then she proceeds to shut all the naysayers up lol.

Gabriel Diallo and Ben Shelton are just warming up as I type - Looking forward to this match.
Edit: Two double faults in the opening service game for Gabe results in an early break for Shelton.

That could be the match right there, another terrible serving game from Gabe who basically breaks himself.

That was one-way traffic from Big Ben, 22 winners (16 of them aces) and only 7 unforced errors. Gabe had no answers for all the firepower on display.

I think Shelton has the firepower to one day win a slam on hardcourts. His game has improved year over year and while he still not polished, his firepower is good enough to win a lot of matches when he's playing well.

Leylah just won the opening set 6-3 over top seed Jessica Pegula.
Edit: And then proceeds to get bread-sticked by Pegula in set 2.
Edit 2: Still hasn't fixed her serving woes, what are we even doing?

Wow, Leylah somehow pulls out this match winning 6-3 1-6 7-5. She certainly didn't play her best tennis, but Pegula has been struggling this season and Leylah was just a little bit better today.

Leylah takes the opening set 6-4 over Taylor Townsend...Had a 5-1 lead and started to collapse a little but recovered just in the nick of time.

Leylah digs deep in set 2 from an ankle injury or possible cramping to win the match 6-4 7-6 over Taylor Townsend.
