If there is any truth to the good year/bad year theory and this is a "bad year" for him, we all hope he's bad enough to get their 1st rounder in the low double digits and no earlier than that. We don't want their pick when he has a good year next year.

He's off to a poor start, but he should improve.

Like others have said he isn't a superstar in net. He has too many off nights for that. But overall he's a solid NHL starter, which is what Jersey needed.

Small sample but Bahl could prove to be just as valuable at a different position.
Yeah forsure.

If Bahl continues what he's done so far in being a massive top 4 shutdown guy, that's worth ALOT.

Especially considering some of the defense prospects we have in the system. There could be some nice future synergy.

Given his defensive poise out there, it's crazy he's only 24.

I would have paid $4M to dump the contract. Getting Bahl and a 1st rounder is very rich icing on that cake.

How good has Bahl looked? He looks like the main asset in that deal with the 1st as a throw in. What a smart acquisition by Conroy and whoever the eastern pro scout is.

It's a whole extra cake on that cake.

That trade has layers like a wedding cake.

Just a hilariously lopsided deal in CGY's favour from the moment it officially went down.

The most fun part of this trade was it allowing us to upgrade our goaltending position

It was like fishing.

I thought for sure after the trade deadline we pulled to hard and yanked to hook right out, but Conny just kept slowly reeling. It’s was pretty amazing how he kept his composure and knew he had him hook line and sinker.

Not only that Markstrom sucked ass here. Good riddance to the WORST goalie in Flames playoff history!

Yes only vs the Oilers counted.

It's good that we all have collective Elliot amnesia.

Because Elliot had in all likelihood, the worst playoff series that any goaltender will ever have, in the history of the NHL.

Do you hate the effing Oilers or not? Did Elliot lose to the Oilers in the playoffs?

and even then Trevor Kidd was way worse than Elliot. We set a goals for record against the Sharks and we still lost.

Yup, was it game 4 where he got in and let in the first shot and got pulled?

I could have sworn Hiller had crapped the bed at one point in the playoffs too, but I guess it was the Elliott year.

all a blur to me. We've really had some terrible goaltending since Kipper.

Does it matter who he lost to, when he lost so badly? He would have lost to the Oilers if he'd played against them. Instead he sucked against a different team.

The whole team failed to play any kind of defence. That wasn't all on Kidd… and I am no fan of Kidd.

Do we have a Anaheim is No Good thread in here?... lol

and yes Kidd was that bad. I was at the game for Game 7 and every single shot the Sharks threw on him you thought it was going to go in.

Yes, the 7th goal against from a low danger scoring chance that Elliott gave up in 10 periods of hockey.

Of the 4 playoff semifinalists that season - all of them combined gave up less than 7 through the first two rounds of that playoffs.

If our goaltending was merely 15th worst out of 16 teams, we are likely tied 2-2, or probably even up 3-1 in that series after 4 games.

If our goaltending was average, we sweep that series easily.

Yup, the Flames scored 35 goals in one playoff series - good for 2nd most ever in ANY series - and lost.

Its funny we always say don't try to be the smartest guy in the room due to PTSD from Jay Feaster, but I feel like anytime a trade has looked dubious or there's some random player coming back, its actually been a win for Conroy and team. I'm impressed with the level of pro scouting since he took over.
