Yeah, I don't see Vlad anywhere other than first long term, meaning Tellez is either a below average DH or trade bait for us.

Yeah, Vlad is really athletic despite being fairly overweight. If he commits to getting in better shape I could actually see him staying at 3B for a while yet. It's really up to him. I'm hoping this off season sees Vlad go the way of Raphael Devers.

Oh SRF.
Last time i had no hope for him and he actually looks good vs the yankees. So this time I have a little bit of hope and he's getting knocked around by the rangers.
Hopefully he can limit the damage here

I'm not optimistic with him but he's only 23 so you never know I guess.
Of course, if Vlad ends up at 1st its a nearly pointless discussion anyways.

I kind of see Tellez as a Mark Trumbo type. A good "filler" player but someone you're always looking for an upgrade on.

You mean the same Trumbo that finished 1st in the AL in HR's in 2016 and was a 2 time allstar? If Tellez becomes a Trumbo that will exceed any expectations for him.

Yes... a guy who'll have mediocre contact and on-base numbers but who'll hit the ball hard enough to justify keeping him around until someone better can be acquired. AKA Mark Trumbo.

That and being a left handed power bat on a team that does lack that element in their lineup might keep him in a fold a bit longer than he normally would.

Ranking MLB Systems with Top Pitching Depth
Quote:
4. The Toronto Blue Jays
The Toronto organization is quickly building up an impressive stable of arms and I could have listed another four or five pitchers. The majority of the pitchers with the higher ceilings are in the lower levels of the system while most of the upper-level arms are more No. 4 starter types. As it stands right now, none of the pitchers in the Jays starting rotation look like locks to be there in two or three years. But by the end of 2021, the front of the rotation could include two hurlers already touching 100 miles per hour in Pearson and Manoah.
Nate Pearson, RHP, AA, ETA: 2020
Alek Manoah, RHP, A-, ETA: 2021
Simeon Woods Richardson, RHP, A+, ETA: 2021
Eric Pardinho, RHP, A, ETA: 2022
Adam Kloffenstein, RHP, A-, ETA: 2022
Anthony Kay, LHP, AAA, ETA: 2020
Patrick Murphy, RHP, AA, ETA: 2020
Josh Winckowski, RHP. A+, ETA: 2021
Kendall Williams, RHP, R, ETA: 2023
Projected 2021 Rotation: Nate Pearson, Alek Manoah, Patrick Murphy, Simeon Wood Richardson, Anthony Kay
|
That projected rotation is just internal, my bet is the Jays sign 1 front end rotation starter, and trade for 1 other in that time frame. Fill out the rest internally.

Haha.
Its beautiful when the pitcher misses inside to Vlad. He destroys pitches on the inner half.
Fisher also has a 2 run bomb and Drury had an RBI single.
5-2 Jays
Edit: Grickuk goes back to back after Vlads bomb!!
6-2

That home run by Vlad was wild. It was at the top of his cleats!

Boy has the outlook of the Jays future outfield ever improved with the drastic improvements from Teoscar at the plate and in CF, Gurriel being moved to LF and looking good there, and now with the addition of Fisher. Plus 2nd half Grichuk coming to life again.
Speed, power, youth, some decent arms and defense.

Boy does Vlad have a cannon for an arm. Hopefully he can get in better shape cause it'd be a shame to waste that arm at 1st.

Danny Jansen is really starting to excite me. It's been a loooonnnggg time since the Jay's had a young catcher who looks like he could stick long term.

Lol they just showed Vladdys numbers over the last 25 games.... wow, just mashing.
Nice to see Giles back and pitching pretty good again. He looked nice and filthy tonight. If the Jays do indeed plan to compete next season you have to wonder if they plan on trading Giles after all. Maybe they just re-sign him and keep him closing.
Another 4 dingers for the Jays tonight. So much power thru the line up.

Really small sample size but Buddy Boshers sure seems capable of racking up the Ks. 15.6 K/9 so far.
Law has also been pretty good for a while and has a 10.7 K/9 rate going.
Looking forward to Romano coming back as well, another small sample size but his stuff from the pen looked legit and he has a 18.6 K/9 rate early on.
Giles at 14.7 K/9 and Mayza at 10 K/9 are also bat missers.
Font with 11.6 K/9 going in his role as an opener for the Jays too.

Blue Jays are 23-21 in their last 44 games with a +45 run differential (238-193). That's an 82 win pace.
Not bad with that pitching staff, although many of those pitchers have been pitching better than expected.
