Haha, why do you believe that Gross is telling the truth when he says they haven't talked while believing the Flames, the local media, and the national media are all lying when they say the 2 sides have been (and still are) talking?

I find it hard to believe the agent wouldn't call Treliving for 3 whole weeks.

From what I heard no one said it, it was just a number thrown out by Pat.

What did this city do to deserve such a brutal sports radio station?

They have been surprisingly brutal on this topic from the get go.
They still make comments like 4 RFA years, and have talked about $9.5M being a reasonable number.
Just clueless.

If there is any truth to this (I don't think there is) and the demand is serious then I would be worried. That is how they would go about forcing a "Hamilton-like" trade.
I suspect they would find out quickly that Brad Treliving and Brian Burke are no Don Sweeney.

Just so you don't use the cliche and incorrect "definition" of insanity I decided to look it up (I may end up using this in everyday situations now too!):
noun, plural insanities.
1.
the condition of being insane; a derangement of the mind.
Synonyms: dementia, lunacy, madness, craziness, mania, aberration.
2.
Law. such unsoundness of mind as frees one from legal responsibility, as for committing a crime, or as signals one's lack of legal capacity, as for entering into a contractual agreement.
3.
Psychiatry. (formerly) psychosis.
4.
extreme foolishness; folly; senselessness; foolhardiness:
Trying to drive through that traffic would be pure insanity.
a foolish or senseless action, policy, statement, etc.:

One of them has a history of being a turdmuffin who causes nightmares for the teams their clients work for, and the other one has had a relatively short history of painless contract negotiations.

The 8.5 was speculation based on rumours. They mentioned that there is a ton of crap out there so you have to be careful.
In regards to the whole have not talked since early September, did Treliving not mention when camp opened that they asked and got permission to talk to johnny during world cup. Between that and the flames side saying they have been talking, I think Gross may be talking offers. I just don't believe that report, even more so knowing how Treliving operates. Maybe Gross doesn't want to talk to Treliving and is waiting for someone else to call. He is on to his wizard tricks.

Just no. Hamilton was offer sheet eligible. Brad can wait 2 years for a trade partner if he wanted.

I am sick of this entire stalemate. Anything more than 7m is absurd. And Treliving not talking to the agent is equally absurd. Allowing this to have gone on for months and months is a complete fail on both sides period.

Who would he be talking to? Brad Treliving could trade Johnny anywhere. Who would risk tampering with a player the Flames have to agree to trade to them?
EDIT: Unless you're asking if Gross literally doesn't want to talk to the GM of the team and would rather talk to Conroy (or whoever) instead? When has that ever happened?

I am not sure why there is so much hand wringing.
We signed Gaudreau before his fourth year. We got Jankowski before he was a free agent. We did the same with Gilles. Giordano never got the 8 million x 8 people were concerned about. Monahan was inked for a good figure. History favours optimism.
Meanwhile Gaudreau has zero leverage. Does anyone honestly think a combination if Edwards, Burke, or Treliving is going to sign a kid with zero leverage to a number way over his peers? Do people really think they are going to trade him to a location of his choice for peanuts on the dollar?
They will let him sit and rott until he is a free agent first. And does anyone thing Gaudreau is going to sit around and watch hockey on TV? Or go to Europe? This is a guy who has proven he badly wants to play and play in North America.
This deal will get done and it will get done for fair value. Either 6x3 or (more likely) 7x7 (maybe a smidge more).

The one thing I hope that happens when everything is all said and done is that Johnny fires this piece of garbage.
What an absolute nightmare this has been for everyone.

Just more a tounge in cheek about Gross not wanting to talk to wizard Treliving and prefer to talk to others on staff.
