So this Tainted Grail by Awaken Realms is getting a ton of attention. Looks to be a great co-op/solo exploration game with euro style resource management and a strong narrative element. It does seem to be a bit choose your own adventurey versus traditional RPG.. but I do like the combat examples I have seen.
Strongly considering backing this, especially since there is only a few minis to paint lol. Anyone else looking at this game?

I kind of miss Hero Quest. That game took a long time to set up, but it was a great game when you got into it. As a kid I really loved all the different playing pieces.

Some games being played in the house recently:
This War of Mine
Gloomhaven
Codenames
How is This War of Mine? I was very close to backing it but ultimately decided to hold off for reviews and promptly forgot about it entirely. Love the video game and was interested in the board game but I was worried about it being of those games that could easily be quarter backed by one player.
The only thing that worries me about backing this is that its UK based and you're responsible for shipping. Could be pricey??
Shipping is listed on the kickstarter, if you want it all at once it will ship for $28 I am guessing USD to Canada. Definitely adds a bit of price to it.. but I guess you can roll the dice on getting a retail version as well.
Currently sitting at over $4.5 million Canadian with over 28,000 backers. Trending to be in the top 5 backed board games of all time, if not top 3.
I've watched a few play throughs/reviews now and it does look like a unique game for sure. I love the time period, im not a HUGE fan of the nightmare/evil stuff.. but I think the fact it all brushes with Arthurian legend is enough for me to enjoy it.

I like it - but, like the video game, it's pretty grim.

So I did some more digging on this, there is a thread about Canadian shipping over at BGG, apparently they got an official response from Awaken Realms saying they are aware of Canadians getting hammered by custom/duty fees on top of shipping and have figured out the ideal shipping method to minimize or eliminate as many fees as possible.
Some in the thread said kick starter games have enddd up costing them upwards of $60-80 after the fact. Which obviously would be horrible. But at least AR has ackbolwedged it is a problem and have said they have a solution. I dunno I'm hoping more will come out over the next 9 days before I back.

I picked up a copy of this about a month ago but not sure I'll keep it since I cannot get anyone to play with.
I've used Vassal a fair amount, it's popular for Imperial Assault. Especially the skirmish.

Looks like they are combining a lot of popular game mechanics from numerous games like fallout, MoM, IA, and the LOTR LCG. The app part kind of has me a little on the fence, their app work has been AMAZING.. but part of the reason I play a board game is to get off the screen. I find the best way to play these games is to have one person running the app towards them, and the rest can just focus on the board.

Gloomhavenesque but LoTR universe, I might actually get the wife into this game genre
I want them to keep pushing apps because it will lead to some very interesting designs. Companion apps will help clean up big epic games, my group often plays Shadows of Brimstone and it looks like a cardboard train wreck.
I don’t want app based Boardgames to become the standard though.
Feeling bad for Nick at Sentry Box Cards right now. Looks like another break-in. He gets there in 4 minutes. There must be something big happening as I was on the phone with him for 20 minutes after he arrived. His awesome mother beat them there. Edit: two hours now and still no police. Busy night for them
