Also no fan of Justin, but he was fine there. Genuine as well. More likeable than I remember. He also stopped by to chat with the queens of recent Canada vs the World Drag Race, which I give him credit for - stepping outside the usual. The American queens seemed unable to believe that a Country's leader would drop by for a visit. Kamala did this too, on an American versions intro, just after she became the candidate.

JT made an appearance on Canada's Drag Race as well, so it's nothing new for him. I want my Prime Minister comfortable being publicly shown chatting with diverse groups like this, including communities that are quite common across Canada and respect Canadian values and tolerant of others. Personally I think it shows a caring, empathetic side that should be present in the person who leads our country.

He did fine on Colbert.
Kind of avoided the question on why right wing sentiment is rising; would have been interested to hear his thoughts.
I did like his thoughts on working hard to achieve things like health care though; we tend to think of a lot of things as just a given once they've been in place long enough.

People like to say Turdeau embarrasses us on the international stage, and I just don't see it.

He seems really well liked internationally. It's internally where people are tired and looking for change.

Trudeau gets so blanketed in distaste that some people think everything about him is a flaw.

My cousin still tells me on the regular that Trudeau is such a poor speaker and can't string together a sentence. Guy, the one thing Trudeau is great at is making bull#### smell sweet.

JT has not been without problems, but all told he's done a fine job considering the circumstances.

Couple points.

Obviously...India. That was 'pants on head' stupid.

And maybe he is well liked. What he isn't is 'well respected.'

What he is to the International Community?

"Justin, go grab us some brewskies, the grownups are talking."

Is there any evidence to support this? I have no idea one way or another, but I haven't seen any evidence that supports this to the degree that conservatives use it as a talking point.

Trudeau has always been very charismatic and it has been one of his strongest points, where he is widely popular in the US especially with Democrats.

Putting him in a very relaxed and very favourable environment as he was in yesterday, he is at his best. He is a great ambassador to promote the country.

Unfortunately the country does not run on charisma alone, and his narcissism and policies are major contributors to why Liberals are down 20 points in the polls despite the star power while his opponent has the likeability of fingernails on a chalkboard.

Of note, Trudeau took full credit in front of a US national audience for both dental care and pharmacare. Will Singh call up Colbert to tell him there is an asterix on that statement and it's the NDP who put those in?

People don't remember the junior party of a deal.

Trudeau suits the Liberal brand of Canada as a soft power. Respected for its ideals around human rights and commitment to internationalism. Like the Republic or Ireland, or Denmark.

It’s in the realm of hard power where Canada’s standing has declined. We’re one of the worst offenders in NATO for neglect of military capacity, and our internal security is considered so poor that we’re not trusted to be in alliances like AUKUS.

This isn't really a Trudeau or Liberal thing though. Canada's standing in terms of hard power has been declining for decades, and NATO spending is currently the highest it's been since 1996.

Yeah, the 2% of GDP on military spending thing is a weird criticism. That has increased by over 30% under the current government compared to Harper's last full fiscal year as PM where it had dropped to sub-1%.

A lot of brouhaha in the past 24 hours on CTV deliberately misrepresenting Poilievre's reason for a non confidence motion to appear to be about dental care instead of referring to the carbon tax.

https://twitter.com/user/status/1838315186614042764

I listened and viewed the clip in question to judge for myself, it was pretty bad. The way it was spliced reminds me of the Simpsons Sweet Candy episode. Absolutely no way that was not deliberate.

CTV made an apology but Poilievre and the CPC is running on it, and he should. It was pretty blatant.

CBC for their part not missing a chance to take a swipe.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/poi...-ctv-1.7332571

CTV has made concerted efforts to scrub the broadcast both on their website and Youtube. Quite an odd action to go the scorched earth method if it was an innocent and honest splicing mistake.

Of course he is. Trump Poilievre is never going to miss an opportunity to cry about how unfairly he's treated by the fake news media.
