Heard this rumor while driving to Idaho today and excitedly opened the news at the hotel hoping to bask in the hopium. Sadly, not true. Ah well, we'll get 'em next time tiger!
The fact that Lavrov dying was a false rumor while Gaudreau's wasn't just proves how ####ing unfair this world is

Another f'ing useless attack on Kharkiv with no other reason then to demonstrate what POS the russian army is. One of the districts hit was a business district that I have been to a few times. Wife and I have a friend who worked there that we went to visit on a few occasions, went for lunch in the nearby cafes , and even bought our wedding bands in one of the shops. Russians thought it was worthwhile to destroy for no other reason then to demonstrate why the world should hate them for decades to come.

Annnnnd a massive attack on Poltava today. One of the largest civilian attacks of the war.
Good to see Ukraine still being held back and forced to fight with hands behind their backs due to eScaLaTioN manAGemEnt, but russia going ahead and escalating anyways.
Pathetic.

The Russian ministry of foreign affairs has made two threatening statements to NATO on the subject of possible authorization for Ukraine to launch long-range strikes against Russia. https://twitter.com/user/status/1831355842068701405
A Russian Arctic brigade which has been recruiting from prison colonies is reported to have been decimated in Ukrainian attacks on Russian-occupied islands in the Dnipro estuary and Black Sea, suffering as much as 80% casualties. https://twitter.com/user/status/1831240399358185707
IT BEGINS: Retired Russian General Leonid Ivashov, the head of the All-Russian Officers Assembly, has gone public with a statement calling for Russian President Vladimir Putin to resign over his conduct of the war in Ukraine.
180 units of equipment per day: last weekend, the Russian Federation suffered the largest losses during the war, Forbes. the Russians will not be able to capture Pokrovsk: analysts predict that the Russian Federation will not be able to withstand such a pace of attack. On September 1, one-day losses exceeded the daily average by 10 (!) times. https://twitter.com/user/status/1831290888334750086
Ukrainian military forces are using a new drone called "Dragon" equipped with thermite munitions. This drone can disperse thermite over enemy positions—a mixture of iron oxide and aluminum that burns at around 2500°C.
These are however both a few days old, and in the last couple of days we've seen Ukrainian reinforcements arrive at Pokrovsk, which has at least halted the Russian advancement for now, and some positions have been actually been regained by Ukraine.
Since Pokrovsk has been a main target for Russia in their summer offensive, it would be a fairly notable defeat for Russia of Ukraine manages to hold or push them back, and a strategic victory for Ukraine, especially now after Ukraine was already successful at Kursk.

It would be nice to have a NATO defensive arrangement where they just park troops near the border with Belarus so Ukraine can stop worrying about that fat groupie Lukashenko.

U.S. Factories to Produce Russian-Designed R-27 and S-300 Missiles for Ukraine. I certainly didn't have "US produces soviet missiles" on my Russia 3 day special military operation bingo card.

Yes, and it's because they comport with existing air-to-air combat capabilities of the Ukrainian air force, and also for intercepting cruise missiles and drones. They're also economical to produce. They're likely to also get design improvements too (as indicated in the article).

Here's a question (which I'm genuinely curious about) - NATO can't directly attack Russia lest they declare war, but can NATO provide defensive coverage over Ukraine for incoming Russian missile attacks?
They wouldn't be attacking Russia, just providing defense for Ukraine. I'm assuming since that isn't happening, it's forbidden under NATO's charter?
Getting real sick and tired of seeing Ukraine being forced to fight with hands tied behind their back but the other side being allowed to do whatever the hell it wants. I haven't seen any major media reports as of yet on the supposed loosening of restrictions other than couple twitter posts, so I'll hold back celebrating anything until it's confirmed or Zelensky himself says it's so.

Yeah, but I've always felt that the west has zero regard for Ukrainian lives and the country. The goal of the west has always been to weaken and drain Russia, and top up the war industry. Nothing more, nothing less. It's why you have people like Lindsay Graham cheering the war on and the west forcing Ukraine to fight the way they have been, ensuring they do not ever put their own soldiers and people at risk by jumping in to help.

Please do not use Lindsay Graham as an example for anything, other than identifying a number on the Bristol Stool Chart. He's a nutty outlier.
