The big conundrum is that Russia gets their enemies to submit or retreat by smoking them with non stop artillery. Is Putin willing to decimate Russian towns and cities to do the same here?
History tells us Ivan isn't sacred to flatten their own towns & Putin certainly doesn't seem to care about public opinion.

I do wonder if an anti-Putin force of Russian Partisans could occupy these areas and do what Wagner tried to do before quitting. That would be something. If they start holding these areas, they may even be able to start recruiting and spreading the movement.

Russian military bloggers are freaking out. They say there's a significant build up of Ukrainian forces on the border with Belgorod region, which is just south of the ongoing Kursk offensive. https://twitter.com/user/status/1821756832848957614
Russia is estimated to have lost 500 - 1000 soldiers in just one strike, in Russia, last night.
The Ukrainian Army has obliterated a Russian military column of 12 trucks bringing infantry reinforcements to the Russian Kursk region in an attempt to stop the Ukrainian invasion.
A Russian TV channel presenter literally showed live the exact location of the movement of Russian convoys of equipment and personnel into the Kursk region. https://twitter.com/user/status/1821865861734359107
So what is the play here for the Ukrainians? The gas meter for all Europe bound Russian gas as a bargaining chip? Or some kind of feint into Kursk to push into Belgorod and a flank/supply attack on forces bound for bound for the Donetsk front?

There could be multiple tactical or strategical considerations going on simultaneously. Belgorod certainly wouldn't be too far away from the Ukrainian border, and it would be a really big city to take. Supply lines are certainly affected already.
In any case, they are clearly taking Russian land... which if held on to, could later be used as a bargaining chip in negotiations to get back Ukrainian land.

They've built up and hid their strength in the Sumy region and now they're through Russian defense lines and causing havoc in the backfield. Reportedly Russia is recalling forces from Africa and repositioning forces from the front to meet the Ukranian advance, but that's going to take a lot of time.
The push into Kursk oblast is going to have widespread effects on other parts of the front in Ukraine.
This YouTube channel has a lot of good information. Pro-Ukrainian, obviously, but he's very plugged in.

SitRep - 08/08/24 - Kursk Operation day #3 brings new gains.
See! Ukraine couldn't take Kursk on a 3 day special military operation either. And people laughed at Putin and his Kyiv 3 day special military operation.
The pictures on the ground and tweets posted by Cheese show this was not dozens as stated on the tweet...but around a 1000 soldiers killed in this one convoy.

If you want to very directly help the Ukrainian fight, money from that link goes directly to a brigade fighting in Kursk right now. If you feel like donating to the most noble cause of "fu** Putin and fu** his army in particular", it doesn’t get more direct than this.
Not gonna lie, felt good to give money to this.

Ukraine wants Russian military to leave.
What better way to get them to leave than by making them have to leave to fight on their own soil.

Dammit I was thinking of doing the same. Money's tight for me right now, but I'm MUCH better off than most Ukrainians displaced from their lives and homes!
Donated as well. Thanks for the kick in the butt.

Well thought out and said. Good tube and I concur, this is very bad for Russia.

Yes but what is the play for the Ukrainians here? A flanking attack into the Donetsk flank via Belgorod? An operation in the Kinburn spit and a crossing into the areas north of Crimea? Bargaining chip for negotiations? Ukraine is pushing a lot of forces forward and they do not want to keep Russian territory.
Partisans in the Kursk region recorded a message: "This is the Kursk region resistance. We want to send greetings to our guests, the Ukrainian Armed Forces. https://twitter.com/user/status/1821993992654934129
Incoming reports stating that the Ukrainian Army has encircled 2 Russian battalions near Sudzha in the Kursk region of Russia. The Russian 17th battalion of the 488th regiment and the 31st battalion of the 102nd brigade are reportedly in serious trouble. https://twitter.com/user/status/1821755256268628232

this was planned when it looked like Trump was going to win, so I would guess was originally planned as an attempt to get leverage in the presumed negotiations in November, with a Harris win more likely I suspect Ukraine will use it to draw Russian reserves into a new meat grinder, again it's hard to predict but I would suspect most Russians are really putting all their hope in a Trump win, a Harris win will devastate them more than it will for the MAGA crew, I could see that being the tipping point that brings down Putin
