So I got the VLC app, and it works the way it's supposed to, but I'm having difficulty with the videos I want it to play.
All of them give me a heads up warning: "Your iPad may be too slow to play this video. Do you want to try anyway?"
Sure enough, not 2 seconds into the video, video playback all-together stops, but audio continues on.
Suggestions?

Cut The Rope is a pretty good game. It's similar to Angry Birds but it relies more on thinking things through than luck of the toss. It currently has 100 levels, but they are adding more in the future. 99 cents.

Rage by ID is out, and it looks excellent. Two versions, both are universal apps.
Rage and Rage HD. Rage HD has high res graphics for the iPhone 4 and iPad, while Rage is meant for the non high res devices :P

Rage HD=1.99

Bought Rage HD. Graphics are wicked. Well worth the 2$. Don't cheap out on the non HD version if you have an iPhone 4 or iPad.

Wow, Rage HD is crazy. I can't believe the graphics these phones are capable of.
The whole "game on rails" thing is taking a bit of getting used to. I haven't played Area 51 for a long time.

Anyone have luck with an IM app that actually keeps google talk online? I'm using Beejive and it refuses to stay online for more than 30 minutes it seems. I want it to stay online in the background but it hasn't worked out yet.

I would recommend BIT.TRIP.BEAT and Chu Chu Rocket. I would get tetris but I have no idea how that would work out on a touch screen.

Tetris actually doesn't work too badly on a touch screen. I have it for the iPhone. Basically tap the screen to rotate the piece, swipe left/right to move and down to drop. I'm not sure if it would be easier or harder with an iPad.
