Lindholm will retire with generational wealth but he certainly fumbled the bag throughout his career. I do recall hearing that he fired his agent in the first year of his 6 year deal here when he immediately broke out. I wonder if during those negotiations the Flames offered a short term deal and he was pushed to take the longer deal which was a bargain from the moment he started playing for the Flames but was fair based off his 0.5ppg career numbers to date.
This time he is offered a huge amount of money and goes on to have his worst season since 15/16. I do think he gets a healthy payday but no chance it comes close to the $68.8M the flames allegedly offered.

If its a show me deal, he is not getting a raise on a multi year deal.
He would be a buyout candidate if he was a on deal like Duchene was when he was bought out.

I feel like with the season Lindholm is having as well as rumors he is injured in Vancouver, unless he has a monster playoff run, he is only going to be signing 1 year deal around 5 mil.
I think he will be lucky to get a multiyear offer, and if he does it will be a lowball for sure, or Columbus. Who knows, he may even need surgery in the off season and won't get a contract until he is back to healthy, might have to do a PTO if he is ready for camp.

Lindholm will be lucky to get the contract that Ryan O'Reilly signed last year.

That's an easy yes then.

Lindholm is still a good player, I would sign him for 6.5x7 easily. One bad season does not outweigh 5 previous strong seasons

Lindholm won't be taking less money(350k) than he's making now. I think he gets something between 6-7.5, on a shorter term.

What if no one …. Offers him more ? You think he’s retiring in that scenario

Wasn't that the same argument around Huberdeau?..
(Although in 2024 he's been good)

It will be fascinating to see where Lindholm signs, what his contract is, and then see how he actually does from here on out.

I don't see a scenario where the highest offer is below 6.

Honzek and Coronato to Ottawa for 5th-7th OA - who says no?
Or do they forfeit their pick now to get it over with?

I think they kick that at as long as they can and hope the NHL does the Kovalchuk with New Jersey...we were just kidding about that.

I think Ottawa would be silly to give up their pick this year they need to believe they are going to turn it around.
I personally don’t like that deal for either team.

Both teams say no imo. As a Flames fan I think that would be a losing trade.

As a Flames fan I would do it. Because I think Honzek and Coronato are likely middle 6 forwards, and I would rather take a crack at star-level, top of the line-up talent.
But I think Ottawa says no.

I would- Honzek has lost basically a year of development and I’d be willing to gamble on an extra top-7 player who isn’t an American.
Both are more easily replaced than whoever we’d get with the pick.
Ottawa might like the idea of a couple guys who aren’t 18, but I agree that they probably say no.
