Not having a real SS just cost the Jays a run there. A real SS would have made that play. I don't mind Panik but he isn't a SS.

The past two games has led me to a question, what good does it do putting Shaw in the #3 hole? I understand splitting up your lefties, but does it provide any benefit when you are inserting a poor hitter into the middle of your better hitters and giving the other team a free out when you have the best chance of stringing hits together?

Well, the plan is for Shaw to not suck. Unfortunately, that hasn't been happening

Who would have thought a guy who hit worst in the majors last season would suck

That's a surprise move

1) Espinal has a sore hamstring

2) if they get a run, who is going to play short in the 10th?

Tellez is the better hitter and should hitting 3rd to split the lefties.

Even Panik was a better shot at being a better hitter despite his struggles this season IMO. Shaw has been terrible for long enough that we know he isn't just going to break out of it at this point in time.

You're down one run, bottom of the 9th, guy on second, and you let Shaw bat

(shakes head)

That's what I'd have done. Even if it meant moving Vlady to 3B and losing the DH in extras.
